It would be a shame to have to use a brighter skin, I prefer very dark ones, and bright images wash my image out somewhat and light up my room (non bat-cave). I will report back soon. Could it be possible that if this is a bug/ comparability issue with JVC projectors, for the issue to be fixed from the Kodi software end?
