Since 4K is now starting to penetrate the market those of us who want a well-priced device that will likely garner significant developer support would also like to see a more future-proof RPi. The RPi3 may be priced relatively well, but unfortunately it sn't much of an upgrade over the RPi2.
The Pi 3 B is a zero-cost upgrade to the Pi 2 B (it's shipping at pretty much the same price as the Pi 2 B) and is adding WiFi and Bluetooth as well as a faster CPU. For the target education market that's potentially very good news (saving the cost of WiFi dongles) and opens up the Pi 3 to cheaper IOT applications. I know we all love the Pi for media playback - but lots of people do other things with them, and 4K HEVC 10 bit media playback is not their target market.
Personally I'd love to see the end of the single USB 2.0 bus I/O bottleneck - but again that's not a major issue for many (most?) of their target market.
By the way - they appear to be up to order on the UK RS Components site now. Pimoroni and The Pi Hut are down for maintenance.
