Assuming it's a "3" I'd assume it's a new or refreshed SOC? It seems as well the RAM is on the rear side, not package on package. could it mean a 2GB version as well..? We'll see next week I guess.

Looking at the pictures a bit it seems like this is more of a Raspberry PI 2 B+. It's probably the same soc, but could be a different revision (higher clock?), while the RAM, USB to LAN chip are the same as 2B. The only difference seems to be the bluetooth+wifi chipset on the rear side. Oh well...

I doubt I will get one right away, I didn't with the Pi2. From my point of view the only thing I can see it'll bring to my particular party is the possibility of reliable H.265. I am still using original RPI Bs as media centres every day and will continue to do so until they fail or become defunct.

Is 64bit gonna make any big difference on openelec?

The only part that surprises me is that they updated the chip to be 64-bit. From what I'm told (and I could be totally wrong) is that 64-bit doesn't always make a big difference or mean "faster". It's an improvement, and the RPF likes to include those whenever possible, but Pi2 to Pi3 will likely be a smaller jump in performance than we saw with Pi1 to Pi2.

Details of the next member of the successful Raspberry Pi family have become available as part of FCC testing documents. The Pi 3 finally includes WiFi and Bluetooth LE.
