Star Wars won't scrape properly

HELP !

quick background: updated pc to Windows 10, wiped Kodi 14.2 completely, clean install Kodi 16

Now I'm having some scraping problems that weren't present before - most notably, the Star Wars series

I have them all in one folder like this:

Directory of Z:\_Movies\Star Wars

Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999).mp4
Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999).srt
Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002).mp4
Star Wars Episode II Attack of the Clones (2002).srt
Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005).mp4
Star Wars Episode III Revenge of the Sith (2005).srt
Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope (1977).mp4
Star Wars Episode IV A New Hope (1977).srt
Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (1980).mp4
Star Wars Episode V The Empire Strikes Back (1980).srt
Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983).mp4
Star Wars Episode VI Return of the Jedi (1983).srt

but they get scraped as 6 instances of Car Wars (2006).

I have searched the forums, and implemented several suggestions which usually involved minor naming adjustments. I have changed the settings on Universal Movie Scraper to try IMDB, then changed it to use themoviedb, but no change - always 6 instances of Car Wars (2006).

Any Ideas?

I think you have to give the scraper more help by using separation characters, like "Star Wars: Episode I - The Pahtom Menace (1999).mp4". Rename one and see what happens.

IIRC to have the files scraped correctly, they have to exactly match the names in the chosen scraper.
So the first on your list should be renamed to "Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace" to match the film on themoviedb.

Good luck getting a colon into a filename.

I usually put a '-' in their place.

Car Wars is a TV series I think, so it may be that Kodi thinks the library type is "TV" instead of "Movies". Try removing Star Wars from the library and re-adding it being sure to pick "Movie" as the library type.

might it be, you have movies and TV-shows in the same source?

If "Car Wars" is added (which is indeed a TV-Show), you either don't seperate your movies from your TV-shows and/or did the wrong setting for the movie scraper and you might use "TheTVDB.com" instead of "Themoviedb.org" as the scraper.

If that still doesn't work (the naming should be fine normally), provide a Debug Log after the scan, please.

What he said, I suspect - putting your filenames (e.g. Star Wars Episode I The Phantom Menace (1999)) into imdb, and it finds the right film straight away. Mine are labelled similarly (Star Wars Episode I - The Phantom Menace) and that also works.

If all else fails, manually refresh it and try entering the imdb reference, e.g. tt0120915 for Episode I.

Colons (and other characters) are only a problem for certain file systems. Luck doesn't play a part in it.

Given the OP's using windows 10 he'd need a big slice of luck. So ner.

Oops. I guess I couldn't even be bothered to read the first two lines of the thread. Thanks. Blush

Since you're being so nice about it I apologise for my grumpy tone in the previous post.
And tbh I'd forgotten you can use a ':' in other stuff than windows. My drives get shuffled between os's willy-nilly, so anything I name has to work in everything.

OK. Maybe don't change the filenames, but change the titles of the movies to match those used on themoviedb.

Nice ! ! !

I did get the problem fixed. When I set up the source, I had the option of "movies are in a folder of the same name" (or whatever that says exactly) checked. Unchecked that, clean and rescan, voila!

Thanks for all who offered help!
