Hey guys,

I just read about a new box from Xiaomi called Mi Box 3 Enhanced Edition.

From a hardware perspective it seems quite powerful and since the OS in Android based, I believe that Kodi would work on it? Any opinions or comments on it? Could it become a good alternative or is it missing something very crucial?

In reality an ARM media box is only as good as the Firmware support and the Software that runs on it.
After sales support from the seller is pretty vital if you want something that works properly.

This means smart, clued up developers for the essential Linux Kernel and talented OS developers to iron out a bunch of bugs and add nice value added features.
These are some of the very good reasons why the RPi series of devices as an example have been wildy popular as a Kodi media players.

Relying on tech specs alone and flashy marketing can lead you down a mis-leading path. Most cheap Android boxes out of Asia are Pump and Dump devices.
Hyped up marketing on a flashy website, false reviews, and listed Tech specs as tho the device will flawlessly play everything right out of the gate. This is seen time and time again. A lot of it is compete bullshit !
