Regular crashes
#1
Hi, Kodi is regularly crashing whilst playing videos (TV shows, movies, all kinds of file formats...) and I've been unable to determine the cause.

Version: 16.0 (was happening on previous versions also)
Windows: 10 Pro (build 10586)
CPU: AMD A8-5600K, with Radeon HD 7560D
8GB RAM

Playback simply stops and I'm dumped back to Windows with the usual Windows error message that a "problem" has occurred with Kodi and it will be shut down. Running the latest video and audio drivers (Catalyst pack 15.201.1151.1008-151104a-296217E) and all Windows patches. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Debug Log is in my post below.

Do you have a joypad(stick) plugged in?

You've got some serious challenges with your library set-up (more than 100 errors are reported, too many to count) any one of which can bring Kodi to it's knees. Go into settings>video>library>turn off update library on start. This will at least allow you to watch a video without the system crashing (I hope). Kodi probably runs into a scan issue in the background on one of those targets and throws up it's proverbial hands, and say's "enough stop now".

You need to look over some of the wiki's Quick start guide (wiki) on setting up your library.

Go over these links, might give an out-of-the-box perspective.

Okay, cleaned up the libraries (I had been cleaning Video but not Music) and checked file sources, but still no joy.

And no, I don't use a joystick - just a wireless keyboard/mouse.

Can anyone else confirm? I'm looking at my log link from three different computers and they're all working fine.

Cheers Derek, did you actually try clicking the link?

There's no reason why the log link would work for me and not him. The xbmclogs site might simply have been down when he tried to access it, and he's now looking at a cached error.

Cheers OTinley, would have thought it was obvious I was referring to the most recent link!

AFAICS, there is no issues in the log, so I'm suspecting a problem with D3D rendering causing the crash.
Link stacktrace or .dmp files if any

Stacktrace/dmp files:

Win Key + R key
Paste: %appdata%\Kodi
Press OK

In the mean time if you have any enhancements enabled in the CCC panel, disable them and re-install the DX11, as there could be API file corruption causing crashes.

GL!
