Beta Spotify for Kodi
(2017-07-18, 18:39)gazzauk71 Wrote: So went and updated my S905X Kodi device, same Libreelec version Dev 8.0.2e from KSZAQ, using Spotify vers: 1.1.36. Seems solid in playback mode, although out of first 5 tracks one track 'cut' paused sound and then went onto the next track ok. Continuing testing for the next few hours, until the missus wants the TV back!

Thanks for the extended testing. The issue that sometimes the audio refuses to play is the deadlock issue I was talking about here in the forum thread. That issue is fixed in the Kodi v18 code and will maybe be backported to Kodi v17.

Hello Marcel,

tahnks for your great work - the 1.1.36 seems to work really smooth on my OSMC RP2.

Are you 100% sure you've entered the correct credentials ?
If you have a Facebook account to log into spotify you might want to create a device password and log in with that details.
You can create a device account when you log into spotify in the webbrowser in your account details.
I'm 100% sure it are the correct credentials. I do not have my Spotify connected to my Facebook.

For as long as the add-on works, it looks and works great. However, after 2:40 min tracks stop playing, after which occasionally the next track begins, or the system crashes.

I'm running LibreELEC on a raspberry pi 2, see attached the error log. Seems that something is causing timeouts of the stream which leads the thing to fail. Any idea's how to fix this would be greatly appreciated!

Hmm, strange. The range requests by the Kodi player seem to be failing somehow on your system.
Did you test with version 1.1.36 of the add-on ? Does it always stop at 2:40 min ?

Hi Marcel,

Yes, indeed it stops almost dead-on with every track I play at 2:40, unless the track I try to play is relatively short, in which case it plays it flawless.
Could it be that it buffers short tracks completely during the first streaming session, and that reopening the stream in case of longer tracks is causing problems?

Just guessing Tongue

Cheers!

Hi Rollcry,

That sounds promising. Could you please let me know what OS and version you are running it with? Than I'll take that too Tongue

@marcelveldt.

Had a couple of strange errors today where I was about half way through an album and then kodi very quickly skipped through all the remaining tracks (basically no pause at all between each track)

Log: https://pastebin.com/S9Ma1zTn

Code:

This was the error repeated. I wonder if I maybe ran out of memory?
I've only noticed this happening maybe 3-4 times since the update to 1.1.36 - It has been working really well otherwise.
Arctic Fuse - Alpha now available. Support me on Ko-fi.

Also tried it with OSMC now, and switched to tethering to prevent any issues may be caused by ISP. Still every track longer than let's say 4 minutes crashes at 2:39

Hey, Marcel! Any update on the RPi1 support? I'll be available for further testing within a week, but wanted to check if there was any improvement meanwhile.

And this is after a clean install of libreelec 8.0.2.e and spotify 1.1.36. Again the same problem

line 1150 onwards.

I also get the exact same error at 2:40 on LibreElec 8.02 and Spotify 1.1.37 on a RP3. I also tried a Milhouse nightly based on Kodi 18.0, and got the same error. It is very repeatable.
Running 1.1.37 on a LibreElec X86 8.02 on same network, and it works perfectly!

V 1.1.37 works without problems if I control the plugin directly on my Kodi htpc.

However the Official remote for Kodi iOS app doesn't work well with the plugin. I can browse playlists, but if I press play, nothing happens.

I like to control Spotify without turning on the tv every time I want to change a playlist. Can someone please advise a remote control app for iOS that works with the Spotify plugin? Preferably one that doesn't require at least 5 clicks to get to the plugin..

You can enable Spotify Connect in the settings and just use the Spotify app to control the Spotify playback on your Kodi device

Thank you very much for your (very) quick reply! Using Spotify Connect, does streaming take place on the Kodi device? One of the reasons why I like your plugin so much is that my iPhone's battery is not draining like when I would use airplay to stream it to Kodi.
Reply
It should be as for any other spotify connect - so it acts as a remote but doesn't stream from the device.

Thanks a lot marcelveldt for this addon! Works like a charm now on my pi2 with osmc! I must say that i also experienced the 2:40 thing which is saw mentioned above but it rarely happens.
