Android HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio)

is it possible that my receiver pioneer SC-81 2015 (HDMI 2 / 4k 60fps / but not hdcp 2.2) is not compatible with 10 bit signal

› Ultra HD Upscaling and Pass-through (4K/60p/4:4:4/24-bit, 4K/24p/4:4:4/36-bit, 4K/60p/4:2:2/36-bit)
No, it looks capable enough ... although your AVR's manual states this:

...so, I'm unsure what the setting should be to make sure your AVR is sending the HDMI signal as is and unmolested to your display. I'd ask here. What you want is pass-through.

Could you please check this link?
My Q5IV reports a lousy 1280x720...
Thanks!
Also 720p Sad. Thankfully, actual videos play at 1080p and 2160p.

I know that interface is not 1080p but video output it's at 1080p/2160p.
Somebody told me that Shield interface it's at 1080p.
I'm curious if pictures are rendered at full video resolution.
If not, it's sad that for a mediaplayer only video is ok, current ARM CPU are powerfull enough for 1080p interface.

Considering updating the kodi on my Q10 Pro. I am still running default that comes shipped with Q10.

Wanted to check with others what versions are you running and has anyone found any problems with later versions etc.

I use Aeon Nox 5 : Silvo Skin and really would prefer to stick with it.

Also do I run the risk of loosing any config settings etc if I upgrade? Would using the backup be advisable first?

Thanks

I sent a message to wesk05 about kodi 17/ himedia Q10 pro and HDR demo.

You can install SPMC and try a couple of HDR clips and see if they play at all, and if they do, whether in 4K, whether at correct FPS.

SPMC is a Kodi fork by Koying for Android, and no wrapper won't work... and for this test, don't want it is as we want to know if SPMC will play HDR clips.

Doesn't 10bit HDR require HDMI 2.0a and HDCP 2.2?

Pioneer 1130 has HDCP 2.2, but there is no indication in the manual about HDMI 2.0a.

may be an answer here:

What's needed in a receiver

A receiver, in order to pass 4K, will need several things. Many receivers that claim to be 4K compatible didn't have all of these features.

HDMI 2.0: This allows passage of higher-bandwidth 4K signals. Most 4K-compatible receivers have this feature.

HDMI 2.0a: No current receiver we know about has this feature, which adds HDR compatibility. It's only relevant for select HDR-capable 4K TVs. It's possible some receivers can be upgraded to HDMI 2.0a via firmware or other methods.

HDCP 2.2: This is the biggie. It's the next generation copy protection scheme and it's required by the FMP-X10, and presumably by 4K Blu-ray players, to pass 4K video via HDMI. Many receivers last year had HDMI 2.0, but didn't have HDCP 2.2. This will likely be an issue, as it might not be possible to upgrade the firmware to allow HDCP 2.2.

houston we have a problem...which has a receiver with HDMI 2.0a at home
