Android HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro (2016) with Kodi (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio)
New FW 1.0.7 available :

This new official f/w is very similar to the beta 1.0.7 provided to a few recently. It's a couple of steps forward, and a couple back (or status quo).

I did a fresh install of Q10Pro_HMD-1.0.7 2016-08-10.190824 on my Q10 Pro, with 24Hz option enabled, and here are my findings:
  • The wrapper has changed, to accommodate p/w protected shares. But, it's a bit of a nuisance for those of us who don't use p/w protected shares as the app forces you to type in username and p/w (see screenshot). Also, it isn't remote friendly, so you really need a USB keyboard attached.
  • The updated HiMedia (native) player now automatically returns you to where you last left off if the video is long (like a full movie). It takes you to the beginning with short clips. No more prompt whether to resume or start from beginning. HiMedia should reinstate this feature, and get rid of the silly video stop/exit confirmation prompt instead. Also, I don't know how they're determining in which videos, at which length (or perhaps filesize), to resume for and which not.
  • 1080p/23.976 full BD rip to MKV is output at 23.97, but player incorrectly identifies video as 47.94. However, playback is smooth and I'm not seeing microstutters... as 47.94 is really twice the value of 23.97. HiMedia should still properly address FPS-in rate however. Usually FPS like 25.000 at 50.000, or 30.000 at 60.000 are okay for playback w/o issues, but I'm not sure if it's okay for 23.976 and 29.970.
  • 1080p/23.976 re-encoded MKV (like 1920x800 for example, a scope movie minus black bars) is also output at 47.94. Same comments as above.
  • 3D MVC ISO 1080p/23.976 is output at 24.000. Microstutters are still present Sad.
  • 1080p/29.970 is output at 29.97, but player incorrectly identifies video as 59.94. However, like above instance, playback is smooth and there are no microstutters... as 59.94 is really twice the value of 29.97.
  • 4K H.264 23.976 is perfect, FPS in and out.
  • 4K HEVC 23.976 is perfect, FPS in and out.
  • 1080p and 4K 24.000 FPS are both perfect, FPS in and out.

Sounds like decent progress Smile
hdmkv, what happens to Passthrough Audio with these 23.976/29.97/59.94fps Fractional Refresh Rates.
Does it stay in sync or is it resampled ?

no need pw and username, you choose kodi or wrapper himedia and back button, that's it.

in my opinion it's easier, the movie play automatically and you have the option to restart the movie for a few secondes with the back button from the remote

Good question, don't know how I can check this. Inclined to say audio is passed w/o resampling; otherwise, wouldn't especially ATMOS & X w/their metadata break in the process? Just guessing.

You're right... if you press 'Return' button to back out from below, settings hold w/o needing to click 'OK'. Little confusing though, not intuitive

Upped the rating to A- as HiMedia getting all flavors (720p, 1080p, 4K) of 2D @ 23.976, 24.000 and 29.970 to play w/o microstutters, frame skips or jumps is decent progress as @wrxtasy notes.

I'll need to try again as this new wrapper wouldn't let me click 'OK' w/o putting in login/password...

doubling fps?

The double FPS # comes from a diagnostic tool built by @pcristi, which per Simon @ Futeko forum, may not tell the whole story...
Quote:I don't think it really matters what the diagnostic tool reports when output is correct without any stutters. The tool is unofficial and gives an incomplete snapshot of what's going on.

My PJ reports "23.97" with all 2D @ 23.976, and as I've noted, I'm not seeing microstutters with videos I've tested w/1.0.7 so far (a full movie and several FPS and motion bars test clips).

How can I get movie posters/pictures to display on my recent added NAS?
Each time I set up my Q10, it only gets pictures for the first source I connect to it.
I have internal HDD, NAS and a PC-Workgroup hooked up. But it only gets media-info for one of the sources.
I've tried "Update Library" but is doesn't get more pictures, and under "Video Library" it only shows files from the first location.
If I go into "Files" then all locations are there, but they don't show up under Video Library with "recent" "genre" "actors" and so on.

That's more of a general Kodi scraping question... highlight the folder/source, bring up context menu, then choose 'Change Content'. Now select type (movies, or TV shows), select scraper (moviedb, or tvdb), then 'OK'. You should get a prompt asking "Do you want to refresh..."; select 'Yes'.

Thanks.
It worked for the internal HDD and WORKGROUP PC
But for my NAS, Set Content or Change Content is not an option.

Got the HiMedia Q10 Pro today with latest firmware (07.07.16), Kodi 1.6 Jarvis and Wrapper.

How can I make the player send the correct resolution to my screen?
If I play a 1080/24 file, it still sends the picture as 2160/30
And if I play a 720p file, it still sends the picture as 2160/30.
I'm using the Wrapper, so when Kodi starts playing, I see the HiMedia logo up at left.
I've set the HDMI to auto in Boxer settings.

What happens is that the Q10 Pro sends the fixed resolution it is set at.
On the remote there is a button called "TV Mode"
Pressing this changes from 2160/60 to 2160/30 to 2160/24 to 1080/60 to 1080/50. But no 1080/24 is available.
And I would like for the Q10 Pro self adjust the resolution according to the file being played.
How do i fix that?

Tor

setting -> playback -> 24 hz ON .

Hi, First time poster Blush I have a HiMedia Q10 pro coming arriving on Sunday. Could you please answer these questions for me.

1. With this new firmware release can I just switch on 24 FPS in the himedia menu to get auto 24fps switching or do I have to run this above script.

2. Should I install SPMC version of Kodi. Or is the version of kodi the player comes with good enough.

3. The big question is can I have Kodi running in 4k 60 FPS while I am looking thru my video collection then when I play a 1080p 23,976 file have the himedia player switch to 1080p 23.976. then switch back to 4k 60 once the movie is done. or if i play a 4k 23.976 file switch to 23.976 then back to 4k 60 fps once the movie is done?

4. Should i just use the wrapper for kodi or is the himedia built in player better. Can I do that above frame and resolution switching while using the wrapper or just when using kod or will it work with both if possible at all.

The reason why I want the player to switch 1080p out put is because I would rather have my tv do the upscaling rather than the himedia. Or is the himedia upscalling really good and I do not have to worry about it.

Thanks for all of your help in advance.

2) yes

3)no, addon it's only a frequency switch.
resolution switching is very complicated, not all vido are 1080p some are 900p,1000p ecc..

4) with kodi (dvdplayer) + addon not work :
- HD Audio passtrought , need wait update to android 6/7
- Full 3d ISO(MVC) ,not support kodi
- 2D iso ( frequency switch ) , working progress

All other functions work very well ☺
