Win Intel HTPCs/NUCs & Kodi-native 3D MVC Playback
Hey guys. I have one issue.
I laptop Asus x54c with Intel graphics hd 3000. I'm running kodi MVC build but it has big problems with performance.when playing 3d ISO only 12 FPS and both graphics and CPU used in 100℅. And it's not only when playing stereoscopic 3d but also when playing normal ISO. Is there any trick or tips for making kodi play smoother? I have updated drivers for graphics and all stuff. I have direct x 11 installed.
Here is log from my kodi when running 3d ISO. Maybe there is something which can explain why it plays so slow. I really appreciate your help

only 3rd Generation and later (i.e. at least Ivy Bridge and later) Intel CPUs has HW accelerated decoding of MVC (it's limitation of Intel Media SDK)
HW decoding MVC is not possible on your Sandy Bridge

A mini pc with this Intel hardware should work correct with windows 10 installed?

5th Gen Intel Broadwell i3-5005U Dual Core Processor at 2.0ghz.

Yes, should work... I haven't seen any actual user reports using Intel HD Graphics 5500 yet however. 4600 yes, 6000 yes. If you get the i3-5005U, please let us know about 3D MVC on it.

N2920 Baytrail laptop works like a charm on win 8.1 and windows 10. Tv automaticlly recognizes stereoscopic 3D on HDMI input where laptop is connected.

Nice job with latest 22.12.2016 build. Music

Ok. I currently have the dell micro 3050 and while it works it just doesn't have enough power to handle some of the demanding skins. Looking to upgrade while keeping costs down.

Define keeping cost down.

Well the Dell micro was $100 and works just not as well as I would like it too so I don't really want to wind up spending $400 to upgrade. Looking for something used at a more reasonable price.

Hey Guys,

I'm new here, but not that new to Kodi. I've been running a Chromebox with Kodi (and more recently, LibreELEC) for a couple years now. However, I would like to be able to stream 3D MVC ISOs.

I've looked at the Google Docs spreadsheet and there seems to be quite a few "Recommended" NUCs. Is there a current consensus as to the "best" NUC for this purpose?

I would love to stay under $150, but if more $$$ will get me better video quality and/or less headaches, I'm flexible.

My main concerns are video quality (on both 2D & 3D), audio quality (not concerned if it's bitstream or PCM as long as the HD formats are supported), no lip sync issues and ease of use (gotta have the WAF). 4K support would be nice, but not a deal breaker.

BTW, I see a lot of mention of people streaming 4K rips....that's a thing nowHuh

Any advice is appreciated!

There is no best, but for about $150, a GIGABYTE GB-BXBT-1900 ($130 shipped on eBay). Slightly better than a Dell 3050, which seems harder to find now, at a decent price. If you can spring for an i3-based PC, that would be better. I got a used D34010WYK... I see one on eBay for $290 shipped w/120GB SSD and 8GB RAM (not that you need that much RAM or storage).

But, for near $300, you may as well get the ASRock BEEBOX‑S 7100U or 7200 latest-gen Kaby Lake boxes, which do 3D and 4K@60 & 10-bit.

I expect other enthusiasts will chime in with additional recommendations.

Re: 4K rips, they are HDMI capture card caps... actual UHD BD rips don't exist.

Good deal, I went from the Dell Micro PC to a 7th gen i3 Beebox, the performance upgrade is noticable.

What performance differences did you notice?

I am currently considering a refurb Dell 3050, and I see it is "Recommended" with "No issues" in the spreadsheet (and it's CHEAP!). Will I be happy with it for 1080p and MVC playback with HD audio? That is pretty much all I'm concerned about, but if the BeeBoxs have better pic quality then I will have to re-think.......
