Your panel probably does not have older HDMI 1.4 inputs designed for 1080p 3D. It probably has 2.0a designed for 4k. It is not backwards compatible. 3D is not going to work unless you use a different player with Kodi like PowerDVD. Many choose to invest more money in an NUC device with these older ports to circumvent the problem.
yep, it has 2.0a. are there any solutions that will get me the full 3840x1080 per eye? i assumed devices with HDMI 1.4 would limit me to 1080p (1920x540 per eye.)
