Win Intel HTPCs/NUCs & Kodi-native 3D MVC Playback

I installed both Kodi 17 and 18 versions from this thread, but I can see "only" Over/Under, SidebySide, Anaglyph, Checkerboard and Interlaced Huh

yes, it's possible. at least on Win8 and with stereo display. did you enable stereoscopic 3D in system display settings?

That sounds good Blush
You mean the display setting from Windows 10? I searched, but I didn't find that option. All Intel drivers are updated Huh

Edit:
After connecting the NUC directly to my TV, I can see the 3D option in windows, but Kodi still doesn't show another 3D option then in my previous post

Just noticed the new Kodi 18 builds; thanks Afedchin and Morpog.

I'm on an I-3-8300 and the 3d does play, the tv switches to 3d mode too but it defaults to top/bottom 3D, the other odd thing is that the 3D mode in the menu just shows as "block_lr". Interlaced also works fine but what is the mode called that people using for full resolution MVC decode?

Hardware based, but it was my understanding that that option wasn't working with any of the hardware that has the DP --->HDMI 2.0 conversion chip. You'd have to use something with HDMI 1.4 or an after market gpu that supports mvc with HDMI 2.0.

SUCCESS with Intel I3-8300 and HDMI V2 IGP output
The important bit for me was upgrading to the Intel DCH 25.20.100.6577 IGP Driver

Setup:
Kodi 18.0 RC5 X64 Build from Morpog
Windows 10 Pro X64 with all updates as of 26/02/2019
Intel DCH 25.20.100.6577 Driver (Released Yesterday, did not work with older DCH 25.20.100.6444)
Supermicro X11SCA-F Motherboard (Uses the less common PS175 DisplayPort convertor; NOT Megachips, this may or may not be important)

Other Details (Don't think these will matter though):
KVM VM running under 4.20.7-arch1-1-ARCH Kernel Linux Host
Intel UPT Passthrough of IGP
Unique "SG" video option enabled in Supermicro Bios (Allows host to boot from IPMI for video and then HDMI to be passed through to VM)
Using INF EDID override (This was from earlier troubleshooting to make my old Denon amp not default to stereo on power cycle but I don't think its required in general)

Notes:
Samsung TV switched automatically and declared 3D Hardware (Not Interlaced like before) but reports 1080P/30 despite the source reporting as 1080/23.976 by Kodi
Movement seems good
DTS HD-MA Passthrough is working well
Video Decoder is reported as msdk_mvc (HW) and CPU use is no higher than 25% (I only pass 2 cores from the CPU to the VM)
Seems to switch ok from 3D to 2D and vice-versa
Automatic refresh rate switching seems to be broken with this build; works with the official Kodi 18 releases
Have only used for 30mins so far but this is very encouraging IMHO

Have some photos but cant seem to upload to this forum.

Try disabling "full screen window" in settings --> system --> display.

Thank you, that setting fixed it although it was the other way round; enabling full screen window made the refresh rate changes work. Smile

Now getting correct auto refresh rate changes. My 3D BD MKVs are playing perfectly in 1080P/24 Hardware 3D; motion is perfect.

Anyone else tried Intel HDMI 2.0 3D with the new driver?

I have a 7th Gen, I wonder if it will work now.

how can i see if a device, e.g. a NUC, native HDMI2.0 or a conversation chip has? Is there any small box with native HDMI2 avail?

Unless you have one of the much rarer NUCs with AMD graphics then it will use a converter chip if it is HDMI 2.0. I would just update to the latest driver and give it a try.

My system is not a NUC but is an 8th gen CPU with a motherboard using the PS175 converter chip. It works perfectly with the latest driver released a few days ago, older drives don't work. Not sure if my system is the odd one out but 3D definitely works with DP converted HDMI 2.0 in some cases.

Hi, 1st time posting. After triying & failing with my pc & laptop(both i5 4th gen) I have just ordered a zidoo X9s. Does anyone have 1 & any good? Thanks. Lee

Yes, X9S is excellent as a 3D media player. 4K HDR too, plus auto refresh rate, resolution & color space switching.

Still not working on 7th Gen Nuc.

Did you use the Intel DCH 25.20.100.6577 driver?

Maybe only Paradetech works.
