Release YouTube Plug-in Thread
Did you try the steps listed here in the FAQ?

(2017-08-13, 22:05)jmh2002 Wrote: From the FAQ in Post #3 on Page #1 of this thread here: https://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid...pid2299963

* HOW TO DELETE THE YOUTUBE ADDON AND DO A CLEAN INSTALL

* Totally deleting YouTube may not be necessary. First try the following:

- Go to the YouTube Addon > Settings > Maintenance > Delete settings.xml > Click Ok (you will lose your settings)
- Execute Setup Wizard > Yes
- Go to Settings > Configure all your Settings > Ok
(don't forget to enter Personal API Keys again if you have them)
- Sign In again (with the normal 2 x web activation)

* If this does not work? The installation may be corrupted. You can do a Clean Install as follows:

- With Kodi shut down, Delete the following 2 folders:
- Kodi / addons / plugin.video.youtube
- Kodi / userdata / addon_data / plugin.video.youtube
- Download the latest version of the YouTube addon from Post #1 on Page 1
- Then > Start Kodi > Go to Kodi Settings > Addons > "Install from Zip File"
- Browse to the previously downloaded latest version zip file and install it
- Go to the YouTube Addon > Execute Setup Wizard > Yes
- Go to Settings > Configure all your Settings > Ok
(don't forget to enter Personal API Keys again if you have them)
- Sign In again (with the normal 2 x web activation)
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge please click the 'Thumb Up - Like' button to show me your appreciation :)

If I then sign it, then back in, I'm only prompted for one code, not the two I'm used to. Everything else seems to work, but My Subscriptions remains empty. Ultimately, deleting settings.xml allows me to log back in, but if I enter my API key and ID, I end up signing in again with the single code and losing My Subscriptions.

I'm trying to isolate something in the settings.xml file that releases the second authentication or whatever, but I'm kind of getting in the dark here. Anyone know what's going on?

It sounds like you have something turned off, i would go to Maintenance in settings and then Delete settings.xml

This will reset you to default. You also make note of your API keys so you can put them back in once you re-start the add-on.

Jeff
I'm running Kodi on two platforms... Android 6.1 Amlogic OTT box, and Windows 10 Enterprise. I recently updated Kodi on both from 16.1 to 17.4, mainly to take advantage of 1080p YouTube vids via the DASH feature introduced with Krypton. On the Android box, when I enable DASH in the YouTube addon settings, and set max res to 1080p in inputstream.adaptive I get glorious 1080p playback on my Samsung TV. On the Windows laptop, however, as soon as I enable DASH all videos played revert to SD resolution, no matter what I do with the inputstream.adaptive settings. The laptop is fairly high end (i7, 16GB RAM, SSD boot drive, etc.) and it has no difficulty playing any other 1080p content in Kodi, so it's not a hardware issue.

If I turn DASH off in the YouTube addon settings it plays 720p just fine, but it refuses to play anything over SD resolution as soon as I enable DASH. Does anybody have any suggestions what might be wrong?

EDIT: BTW, I'm running version 5.4.2 of the YouTube addon.
Okay, I found my problem and I think it's a bug, but I thought I would share my journey.

I'm not sure I tried the clean reinstallation over the weeks since this started happening, so I tried it just to be sure. It didn't help this problem, but I noticed some of the default settings are different if you completely wrote settings and plugin and reinstall than if you only delete your settings. Most notably, after doing the reinstall it now allows me to use the DASH plugin again.

Is the settings.XML file created at install time or is it a boilerplate file bundled with the plugin? Shouldn't it have the same defaults as when you delete the file and launch for the first time? Or vice versa?

While I've been doing that for some time, you were right that something was turned off. As it happens, the first thing I was doing before signing in was to turn all the files on and off to the way I like it. One of the things I've been trying out since the 5.4.2 version was available is the My Subscriptions (Filtered) folder.

Forgive me if I've misunderstood some of the internals, but it would seem that if you turn off the My Subscriptions folder, the plugin doesn't bother authenticating against the second (first?) API version, which means that the My Subscriptions (Filtered) folder doesn't do anything. If you sign in while My Subscriptions is enabled, you're fine for a time, even if you disable that folder afterward. Eventually though, the access token expires and if it's not enabled when that happens, then you get nothing.

tl;dr
Bug: My Subscriptions folder must be enabled at sign-in for My Subscriptions (Filtered) to work.

Possible bug: Deleting settings.xml yields different defaults than fresh install.
@arsMOBILIS: Setting Min Bandwidth to 10000000 or greater in inputstream.adaptive, and a desktop/Kodi resolution of 1920x1080 or greater and Kodi in fullscreen not windowed should yield 1080 results.

@Thub: Thanks. My subscriptions using its own api is the reason the second login is not required when it is shut off, should apply to filtered as well. I made a pass at undefined settings in 5.4.1-2, it was intentional initially though changes to settings handling in Kodi 18 may now cause issues. (non-issue in Kodi <18). Will be looking at both and should have an alpha zip up tomorrow, time permitting.

Hi "friends" i have to ask, in the pass someone it's possible already ask this, for resolve a my dubs..... i try to explain:
On current version of addons we have two "popolars" feeds..... we have:
- Recommended
and:
- Things to see (or "Cose da vedere" in my language)

On normal PC viewing by a browser we have only the "Trending" feeds at this exact page:
https://www.youtube.com/feed/trending

On this addons..... how it's located this ? On Recommended or other ?

I see some Italian "Youtubers" uses this auto-generated playlist to see the "Italian Trendings":
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCEOJ7BE...JZQ/videos

It's possible to integrate this ?
...only on your "little world" can you lay down the law...
'Trending/Popular on Youtube/Popular right now' are the same.

"Cose da vedere" or 'Popular right now', should honor the region you have set in the add-on. So if your region is set(setup wizard) to Italy/IT then this menu should bring you to the same videos you see in the above link.

5.4.3~alpha2 is posted.

5.4.3 alpha2 zips

[add] mpeg-dash support for live content (requires inputstream.adaptive >= 2.0.12)
[fix/upd] add My Subscriptions (Filtered) to dual login requirements
[upd] Greek strings [Twilight0]

Mpeg-dash livestreams will only work with inputstream.adaptive >= 2.0.12, which should be available in the latest Kodi 18/Leia nightly.

Big thanks goes to peak3d for his work on inputstream.adaptive to get livestreams up and running.

As usual if you have an issue, please provide a debug_log (wiki)

I noticed that auto subtitles for almost all videos stopped working after this commit

A couple of examples:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOGtcBR1fdg

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4pnNKcocmAY
This is most likely not necessarily unique to YT addon but coming here in case someone can point me in the right direction.

The sd card on my pi3 LE setup appears to have gone bad. Managed to clubber together a resuscitated system using backups but I am getting this error:

07:45:28.035 T:1372582816 ERROR: EXCEPTION Thrown (PythonToCppException) : -->Python callback/script returned the following error<--

I am guessing getting urllib3 will fix the issue but after searching around I was not able to find a way to do that, or my search parameters were not adequate.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Thanks.
Thanks for the heads up A600, that change made automatic the equivalent to auto-translated instead of auto-generated. Will look to add auto-generated back into that.

@Islander3153: Looks like either an underlying dependency issue, or environment issue. Not proficient in linux enviroments, but the first thing I would try is:

sudo pip install urllib3

Long run, may be easier to start fresh and migrate userdata/addon_data/<addon> folders only though.

Thanks for new alpha. Timeshift is working as well. Great work

mmmmmm... it's now more clearing.... and recommended ( in italian "Raccomandati") ? It's the same ? How it's your feeds ?

*EDIT*
Other question it's:
I have installed the newest alpha2.... and i see this:
[add] mpeg-dash support for live content (requires inputstream.adaptive >= 2.0.12)

I use OSMC Latest..... the inputstream it's 1.0.8 and i don't see upgrade... someone can explain me how i can obtain this newest version ?
...only on your "little world" can you lay down the law...
@DjDiabolik:
Recommendation or 'Raccomandati' doesn't directly translate to the web from what I've seen. The api request for that item is described as 'the API response contains items similar to those that a logged-out user would see on the YouTube home page'

inputstream.adaptive 2.0.12 or greater will be in the next OSMC nightly, which likely won't be until the end of the month.

@A600: Auto-generated subs should be resolved with the next alpha. 4fd2b05
