I have recently used tinymediamanager to organise my media files and download info and artwork. One of the anime series that I have, had poster.jpeg instead of poster.jpg, and it wouldn't even show up in kodi when manually trying to select my artwork. Once I changed the extension to .jpg the problem disappeared, nonetheless this should be a very easy fix.

while i agree it should be added to the default list, you can add it yourself for the time being;

Thanks for that, though that says that .jpeg is in the defaults, will take a look myself.

How can this be brought to the attention of the devs? It is only a tiny issue, but also fixed very easily.

ah sorry i was too fast. yes, that only applies to my pictures. for speed reasons there is only a very short list of thumbs checked for. it's easy to add but it slows things down for everyone for dubious reasons.

You're talking about adding more extensions to the advancedsettings.xml for My Pictures to check slowing down? Or are you saying there is a way to make kodi check for more extensions when looking for Movie and TV Show artwork, but it slows things down? If the second, how?

i'm saying there is NO way to do the latter because the more files you have to look for on every single directory listing, in particular over network protocols, the slower the listing gets. so it's only looking for a small hardcoded list, namely file.jpg and folder.jpg afaik.

Ah, well I suppose having files stored on a network accessed drive is common enough that that is sensible.
I'll just live with it, it is the tiniest of issues. I'm using tinymediamanager to keep things ordered and to get artwork/nfo from tvdb, and out of hundreds of series only one had this issue. Could just suggest to the tvdb guys that they rename *.jpeg files to *.jpg when they get uploaded.

Free! Iwatobi Swim Club seems to have poster.jpeg on tvdb which was grabbed by tinymediamanager for me.
The tvdb guys suggested a better fix, that either tinymediamanager or kodi could just rename the file when it gets downloaded.

Just checked, but all 6 x posters have a .jpg extension on TVDB
Could it be a setting in tinymediamanager causing it to save as .jpeg?

Hmm interesting, thanks. Not sure how I got poster.jpeg then, very odd.
