Intel Apollo Lake
I just got a NUC6CAYS. Is there anything I can do to help with testing this. with some builds or something? I would love to help out with any test you guys might need help with. Hopeful that Milhouses builds will work fine with this as that is my plan to use his LE test builds.

To be honest: Current development is not NUC centric. The only thing that is not yet in mainline is the HEVC - stuff. I have some LE builds uploaded here, that just add hevc support for testing purpose via: http://fritsch.fruehberger.net/openelec/hevc10/ - this additional stuff is tested very, very well - so most likely the bugs you find or "generic" bugs.

@piotrasd: If you post future builds, please link to the git you are building them from. It's really hard for me to track which patches you are currently testing. Especially when I report stuff to my friends at intel it needs to be clear what was already tested.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Official LibreELEC 7.95.3

@fritsch Thanks for reply! Are you sure about this, I read somewhere that the 4.10 kernel is necessary, or are patches merged into the 7.95.3 Version?

LE backports audio patches for that HW since many months. So - just test it and report back.

What did you pay for the pre built one mate ?
I've currently got a intel dn2820 is this a decent jump up ? Box will purely to run Kodi/libreelc on , unless the windows version is recommended.
Cheers

Pre-built (CAYS version with 32GB built in boot drive/2GB RAM/Win10) is supposed to RRP at about £220.
I got mine from scan.co.uk yesterday for £221.99 with free delivery offer, but was lucky. It went out of stock within minutes.
Most places that do have it are gouging and asking for £240+delivery at the cheapest, some as high as £270.
Cheapest place with it in stock and verified as in stock as of this post is Lamdatek at £240+delivery.
Pretty disgusting for what costs $220 delivered in the US and no tax in most states.

It's not a jump up from anything for performance. People buy these for 4K 10-bit HEVC decoding in hardware.
I've downgraded from an Intel i5 NUC for exactly that.
They are next to useless for anything except media duties, web browsing, and productivity tasks. Fine for me, but if you're expecting these to run Dolphin/any emulation of PS2 era or newer hardware/proper commercial games less than 10 years old at decent settings then you will need to spend more on the i5/i7 versions.

EDIT...
Have just checked the spec and the N2820 cpu is a complete dog for graphics 4 execution units Vs 12 in the new super budget NUCs here. Even the chips with 48 execution units are crap (which is what I am downgrading from).
That means your upgrading from the most useless graphics imaginable to ever so slightly less useless graphics imaginable.

All good for Kodi though as mentioned the good stuff is done in hardware so it doesn't matter.

I paid a bit more £237 for mine: Sad
Yeah gfx performance is not usable for MadVR above Lanzalos.

Part of me wishes that I went for i3 NUC.
After upgrade of RAM I spent £280 for this.
i3 barebones is £305 + RAM and HDD. So around £390-£400 depending on ram and ssd combo.
