They are late, but I have seen at least one retailer say January 16. I am also eagerly awaiting this.
There was a post earlier on this thread saying someone had tested one of @piotrasd's builds on the Apollo Lake NUC, so maybe he had early access?

Confirmed 10-bit HEVC works fine on a NUC6CAYH with the LE build from Piotrasd (devel-20161217173209-r24948-gb7cc543). Same HD audio bitstreaming issues are present.

Sorry, I put two different thoughts from opposing points of view in the same line:

A
Maybe raidflex is right and I might run into issues while importing LE settings and such from my curernt ION1 installation into the fresh AL installation. In this case I should just do a library backup/import, correct?

B
Or would my LE installation maybe behave like a windows PC that is booted in safe mode after HW changes so that it can adapt and load the correct drivers and stuff? In this case I could just swap the SSD from my ION1 box into my AL box, correct?

But given your advice I assume A is not necessary and B not possible without running into issues (just like htpcero pointed out).

LE doesn't store any hardware specific settings by default that would prevent booting, so backing up your existing client and then importing this backup into a fresh LE installation will work, as would moving the HDD directly from your old machine into the Apollo Lake machine (assuming there are no BIOS/UEFI issues). So A and B should work. I would probably favour A, as this will give you a fresh installation (increased FAT partition, UEFI support).

I am following your thread since a few weeks now and I'm getting close to ordering an ASRock J3455-ITX to build a budget Kodi Player. The machine is also supposed to manage some other tasks but 4k@60Hz HEVC playback and 10bit content is the most important part.

The other day somebody said that especially the onboard graphics benefits from dual channel. Do I need two 4GB RAM modules to be able to use dual channel or will a single 4 GB RAM module be enough for a smooth playback?

Not sure if 4K will suffer from single channel but for what is worth the single 4GB DDR is around ~20EUR ...

10bit HEVC works fine for me with only 4gb of ram on the same board. Not sure if that will change or not, still very early days.
