[REQUEST] BBC iPlayer (Video) Plugin or Script?
cubicgarden Wrote:Ok I've finally checked this out and wow! It works so well and is so smooth.

Would the author be interested in coming into the BBC to talk to the iplayer team? Also if we could hook up some real streaming would this script still work?

Ian Forrester - BBC Backstage

johnsto Wrote:frumpy_uk: it's easy to change in default.py (it's defined near the top)

Got it, thanks! Will try shortly
Hmm. Now I see "MP4 not available for requested programme" for every programme I try to download. Strange - it was working fine last night. Is it just me? Here's the log http://pastebin.com/m4941d505

thanks

Hmm, maybe something in The Matrix has changed Smile

I'll take a look in a bit.

I'll drop you an e-mail.

I've now had a look, and it seems something has indeed changed on iPlayer which means the iPhone disguise is well and truly busted, and the script will no longer work.

I'm not entirely sure what to do about this right now.

http://beebhack.bluwiki.com/ says to use a full verbose user agent such as:
Code:
Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU like Mac OS X; en) AppleWebKit/420+ (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.0 Mobile/1A543a Safari/419.3
Unfortunately that solution doesn't appear to work, and I'm not sure why.
D'oh, I was being a fool and passing a bad cookie - it's working again now.

Thanks again for your continued work on script Smile . One of most used scripts on my xbox
Top. I'll give it a test drive shortly. Interesting offer to go and talk to the beeb by the way. Hope they're not going to throw a sack over your head and take you away for "questioning"....Wink

Theres now a option for people on the Wii channel, perhaps this can be incorporated, and we can start streaming instead of Downloading ?

I'm already considering using this approach for streaming. It uses Flash 7 video, which I'm pretty sure XBMC already supports, so this would be an ideal way to get it working.

Something odd here - just downloaded it for the first time today, and if you choose BBC Weather from the 8th, it gives the MP4 error.

That's normal - not all programmes are available as MP4s, even though they're listed. It's hard to check until you actually start the download, but normal.
