[REQUEST] BBC iPlayer (Video) Plugin or Script?
Yes! Well done everyone.

I hardly want to mention this but I've got a couple of niggling wee problems...

1. Listing programmes more often than not returns nothing. I tried changing the default timeout period up to 10 and then 30 seconds but still nothing. Sometimes it will list a couple of shows, other times it won't. I've tried sw1tch's suggestion of commenting out the setdefaulttimeout(timeout) line in default.py - this helps me list the shows successfully, but it is s-l-o-w.

2. Playback rarely goes for more than 30 seconds without having to pause for buffering. This only happens when watching through xbmc - when I try watching the same shows in Firefox they play fine.

(latest svn build of the plugin / t3ch's beta 2 of xbmc)

I get similar issues please see previous post with link to log file in it: http://forum.xbmc.org/showpost.php?p=230...tcount=607

DaveNeedsToKnow, what build are you running as it seems from your post that it's all OK for you??

Cheers
Just upgraded my version of Plex to 0.5.21 which includes the RTMP patch and tried the 200809292144 version of the plugin.

It played a programme perfectly Big Grin

Now that the plugin is once again working, perhaps you can move on to adding station logos for the channels as we discussed previously. Wink

Also, while re-testing it, I noticed one programme which was called "Harry & Paul" but the plugin showed it as "Harry & Paul", clearly the XML needs cleaning up a bit.

I can also see that when one looks at the iPlayer website, there is additional meta-data available about programmes, is there anyway this can be made available via the plugin?
The following may prove useful for BBC channel logos

There is also

http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/channels_common/...t/bbc2.png
http://www.bbc.co.uk/tv/channels_common/...t/bbc3.png

I suppose something else you could now look in to in your copious spare time now that the plugin is working, would be to also add the BBC radio stations from the iPlayer.
Yep did a fresh build on my xbox yesterday and iPlayer works a treat!

Thanks again!

Bit of smoooothing out to do on it... hopefully Voinage or Jonsto will knock the rough edges off it soon...

But thanks again to all envolved! Smile

Can you let me/us know version of XBMC, latest T3CH beta2 or bless?

Presume your using latest SVN of iplayer plugin?

Re-installed plugin tonight and checked buffer and other settings and iplayer is no go - few seconds of stream then it seems to lock up. ITV catchup and other streaming works - so no issue with broadband connection.

Many thanks in advance

(earlier post has link to log files if anyone can deceiver whats going wrong?)

I think the problems people have been having with no programmes being listed are down to the BBC website itself having problems. I had a few of these and went and looked at the iplayer website in Firefox, it was very slow at the time and a couple of times reported that it was too busy to handle my request.

Thanks for the info. I have swapped from the latest SVN version of iplayer to the one above but still get the same issue. I am using the T3CH beta 2 build so presume it must be something related to that?

Anyone on BETA2 and have same issues (XBOX version of XBMC)?

Cheers
Yes, I do - but please see my previous post (596 in this thread). I don't think the setdefaulttimeout bug in xbmc has been fixed in beta2.

I haven't tried removing that line like futwick did; that may be a work-around.

In any case - it's fantastic to have the iPlayer back on my Xbox!

Logos and thumbnails aren't a high priority for me personally because I find it really slow downloading the lists when I do get a list. The size being "0" the same. It's being streamed so disc space is irrelevant. The running time of the programme which would be considerably more useful IMHO Smile
Sipart I was using the BETA2 XBMC on Xbox and the version of the plugin from the google code page...
I can confirm that streaming works fine on xbox with the latest T3CH release (BETA 2).. Great stuff.. Smile

Just out of interest, can you still save the stream to HDD?

Thanks all for the confirmations, helps try to find source of my probs. I did try to download but that doesn't work. Back to the drawing board.
It is working much better for me today, I reinstalled the plugin (leaving the setdefaulttimeout(timeout) line in place).

No listing or buffering problems.

Radio is something I'm testing with when I find time, also adding those images when I can!
The iplayer plugin seems to crash on my XBMC build with an undefined name error. See debug log - http://pastebin.com/m6a626e6b.

I can't find any related posts in forum so I assume the problem is unique to me, and probably something to do with my environment and not the plugin.

I got the latest SVN version from the google code page, tried a couple of older releses as well. But I get the same error.

Other video plugins to work fine, so I assume my build supports python plugins.

Is there something wrong with my XBMC build or my installation?

Thanks
