Q. I'm a Newbie on a $100 budget using a 1080p TV, I do not need HD Audio and have no audio/video receiver (AVR).
I just want to plug in and power up, and run Kodi with minimal fuss. I don't care about anything else ?

If you have the USA version the cable/adapter should work perfectly fine. Do you see a red light in the 3.5mm port? If so then you are good. No idea if the older Chinese version has that or not.

if you have the logitech smart hub remote you can control via BT if you add as nexus player but i can't get the power button working since it doesn't exist on the nexus remote. maybe logitech will add a full BT mibox profile?
i know i could use IR and not have this issue but i just prefer using BT...

And even if you changed the remote mapping. Functionality would be broken in other Android Apps.
I tried remapping buttons for the IR Harmony, which then broke functionality of the BT remote. A no win situation.
I've also tried using a FLIRC USB IR receiver, mapped to a full keyboard and that is not working currently either.
hmm ok. i will take your word for it, i assumed as the amazon fire tv remote (bluetooth remote) is remapped for android kodi without a problem it would also pass to the mi box

In short, my box passthrough dts? And it is not clear to me, if the output av, is able to output audio dts 5.1
I think in the end I will use htpc with apollo lake, since I also have lightpack clone and I think it does not work with android, only with windows

FWIW, I use mine with a mini-toslink adapter and it works great. The port also works for analog audio output using regular minijack (headphone style plug).I don't even think I had to change any settings to switch back and fourth.
