I only did transversal read, but I understand HEVC 10bits = HDR, on the codec side

@Koying from what I heard HDR requires some aditional metadata. I've played 10 bit HEVC videos on my TV and didn't get the "HDR mode on" message. However, I don't know if simply decoding a 10bit HEVC video will make HDR work if it is present in the video.
Another thing I know is that you need HDMI 2.0a.

That's all the question, really. What triggers the "HDR mode on" on your TV?

When I play an HDR video, as the ones present here: http://demo-uhd3d.com/categorie.php?tag=hdr (playing them from USB).

If I play some anime at 10bit HEVC Anime, I don't get this message.

HDR mode one has an interesting change that when it is on, I can't change the "OLED Light" or the "Contrast" on the TV. I guess that metadata also controls the TV settings. The thing about HDR is that some parts of the picture get ultra bright like if you set the light and contrast to the max on that particular part of the picture.

Maybe if you just decode a 10bit HEVC to an HDR TV it will work this way. Better get someone with a Shield / HDR TV combo to try it (I don't have neither a Shield or an HEVC capable device except my TV directly).

AFTVnews points to http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00NBW0V7G/?tag=aftvn-20

Definitely seems very similar, so I would say 80% certainty it's an aml S905

That looks to be an older model. 18 months according to tracking @ http://camelcamelcamel.com/Original-Xiao...B00NBW0V7G

Newer one is promoting having hdmi2.0a and run Android 6.

S905M is now S905X. In fact, Jean-Luc (CNX Software) believes that this box will indeed have S905X-H SoC.

The soc is special design for mi box. similar like S905X, but follow the rules about google/netflix.

If they use s905x, They can’t make android TV on it.

Confused I feel this sounds like that zidoo box pre release, promising to do everything, but failing to fulfil the hype.

Hope I'm wrong.

According to Jean-Luc, Amlogic S905M/908/905X are all different names for the same SoC. Hopefully, we will get more information about the SoC in coming days.
Amlogic S905M and S912 Processors

I also have a feeling that the product that was demoed at Google I/O wasn't even the product that will be released. Hugo talked about and showed off YouTube 4K 60 fps clip (which was not a real 60fps clip), but he never showed Netflix HDR. It is either that the firmware wasn't HDR ready or Netflix wasn't ready or the product wasn't ready Duh! Xiaomi Mi box page mentions that a software upgrade is required for HDR. I guess, at this time all we can say is, it may have an Amlogic SoC.
