Intel NUC Skull Canyon NUC6i7KYK
#1
I know there is another thread for the other NUC6 products, but thought I would make a new one for this since there are some major differences.

I just got his box today and the thing that I find most interesting is the HDMI port on this is HDMI 2.0(a?). The reason I write a? is that after studing the motherboard I can see that is has the Parade PS175(HDM) chip for DP to HDMI convertion.

http://www.paradetech.com/products/displ...ers/ps175/

From the spec sheet it is capable of doing 2.0a so there is potential for the Skull Canyon to do HDR at some point! I will test the latest Krypton build on this later today.

More info on the Skull Canyon NUC can be found here:

More info coming! Smile

I don't believe Kodi itself can do HDR.

That could also be an issue yes. Any Kodi devs who know?

Got audio working. Was a firmware issue, not Kodis fault Smile Running as main platform now. Works like a charm!

HD audio passthrough okay? There were reports before Skull Canyon wasn't doing it, w/audio driver needing update.

No. HD Audio passthrough does not work. Have to use Kodi PCM. There are still issues with both drivers on the linx and windows side. And the firmware from Paradetech. Had the same issue with the Club3D CAC-1170 adapter on the NUC6i5SYK with Kodi.

Is the passthrough problem still present? Also with the latest firmware updates?

Thanks a lot for answers.

Yeah it's still there. They have to implement some changes in the kernel before it will be fixed. And seems like it will not be there before kernel 4.9...

Hi guys. I'm having some issues with my Skull Canyon.

Im having issues playing x265 video on my Jarvis 16 stable build. Loss of quality and stuttering.

If i upgrade to a Krypton 17 beta build i am not able to play any video at all. The screen just goes black.

Anybody experience these issues?

The krypton issue is a know issue.

You have to turn off:
Adjust display refresh rate to match video
Sync playback to display

Then try again.

_Spook_ do you know if i can use Kodi for transcoding DTS HD, Dolby True HD or DTS to DD 5.1 via TOSLINK out (Windows 10 64 bit with latest Kodi MVC Build)
I would like to know before buying it.
Thanks

You can't send DTS-HD or Dolby TrueHD over TOSLINK,

Kodi will pass the DTS core that every DTS-HD stream has over TOSLINK. I am not sure what happens with Dolby TrueHD, probably transcoded to AC3/DD.
If I have helped you or increased your knowledge, click the 'thumbs up' button to give thanks :) (People with less than 20 posts won't see the "thumbs up" button.)

if you have SPDIF try to blacklist module
all info in /storage/.config/modprobe.d/disable-spdif-for-hd-audio.conf

then maybe you will get HD audio passthroug working

Leave me some feedback Wink thanks
