I love the Reddit Reader addon, but I have not been able to play ANY streams using it, I am on KODI 17.6 using version 0.9.9.
Every link delivers this error :
Parsing error: Invalid literal for int with Base 10 Mode=listlinksincomment (along with more data)

Gedisony … PLEASE help me get this addon working need it for football season!!

Found Reddit Viewer Version 3.5.0 in the KODI Repository and installed that one. Still cannot play ANY streams.

Error on this version (3.5.0) is :
YouTube-DL error Uresolver unable to get a playable URL

Looking to Gedisony for help..

Hello silkguy69,

2 years ago, when I started this addon, I saw that there are subreddits dedicated to sports streams.
Some streams worked via urlresolver but none of them work anymore.

No Gfycat links are working anymore, it seems they updated their api and other apps have had to be updated for them to work again. If this could be fixed it would be much appreciated!

Hi, I'm having problems playing youtube videos recently. They have unstable behavior ranging from not playing at all (youtube-dl tries first, then gives error, then urlResolver, then fail), or playing after 2 or 3 attempts, or sometimes playing from first attempt. This only happens with youtube links, and never with streamable, imgur, or v.reddit.

Also I have set the 'preferred quality' to "480p or less" and yet all videos play at 720p HD quality regardless.

In the log I tried opening 1 gif first, then a youtube video that failed, then another gif. The Gifs played flawlessly.

I'm using v3.5.4 on Kodi 17.4 through OSMC on RPi3

Please help me in fixing this issue.

Hi ifelsethenend, I saw your post on reddit.

I could not recreate the issue you're having. I don't have an rpi to test though.
It looks like you're using Youtube_dl v2018.06.19. try updating it to see if you get better results.
This will download the latest youtube_dl code into your machine.

to update: rt click (or context menu) on Reddit Viewer.
Settings > Advanced Options > [Update youtube-dl core]

Oh, didn't know I had to manually update that. Thank you for the explanation.

Out of curiosity, why doesn't your addon ever play videos in 480p? I set it for "480p or less" but it's always in 360p only and never 480p. The thing is a lot of the videos I watch are available in 480p when I view them on phone or laptop.

Anyway, thanks for the great addon and your amazing support.

Hi ifelsethenend,

When my addon plays youtube videos, i have youtube-dl handle the communication to the youtube servers. (ruuk made the original addon that lets kodi use youtube-dl)
youtube sends a list of the available video formats for the video. and the addon picks which format to play according to the preferred quality setting.
I'm not sure if it is possible now, but the last time I tried, I could not get kodi to play dash streams from youtube. <-- video and audio in separate streams and you need to have kodi have them play together. (it is like making it play a video and music at the same time)
Anyway, I see that 480p is on the list of available videos but it is 'DASH video' format(no sound). so I pick the closest one that is not in dash.

Here's a sample of the format youtube sends the addon:

Thank you for the explanation. Playing DASH format might not even be supported on the RPi itself. Anyway, I thought of playing around with the settings for youtube-dl service but I found out that the one I have under 'Programs' called "Youtube-dl Control" is actually still the old version and going to the Information window and choosing to upgrade, there's no newer version (mine is from 2018). I'm guessing this one is different than the one in your addon, since the latter is up to date (2019-5). Might be the one for the youtube addon, but they chose to have it as a stand alone service?

Just came across this and thought you'd be interested. Using this addon, Kodi can play DASH videos.

Does anyone else have issues with video links that include a time parameter/ jump cut? Any video links that includes ?t= will not play in the YouTube player for me.

I could only get the video link with time-jump parameter to work if my addon is configured to use youtube_dl (instead of the youtube addon)
