I am assuming that is a typo seeing as how you are missing the .1 before the .69. Is that how you actually have it set up or do you have a .1 in there? If not, there could be your problem otherwise what I do is set the user name and password in the network settings and then I have no problem getting to my PC shares. Just make a new user on your pc and use that in your network settings.

J_K_M_A_N- lol yea thats a typo sorry..

craze7- yea its called HOME. In "My Network Places" under "The Internet" theres an icon that says "my Music on Home". Maybe i didnt do it right? could you tell me how to do it in detail? that would be wonderful. thanks.

One presumes in XBMC you just went "Add Source" then "Add Network Source", and clicked on Browse?

Don't set by IP if you can avoid it. Just try browsing to the share.
Always read the XBMC online-manual, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Do not e-mail XBMC-Team members directly asking for support. Read/follow the forum rules.
For troubleshooting and bug reporting please make sure you read this first.

all i did was this, set my xbmc dash to auto network settings, restart and if u see ur rss feed ur grand..

set up ur workgroup on xp and call it "WORKGROUP" pass is optional but i dont use one..

then in xbmc go to smb client under network settings and call your work group "WORKGROUP"

Then click add source under video, click add source/add network location/ it should say windows network smb, click browse server name and it should show ur "workgroup" then ur pc name..

once u click that it will list all ur shared folders/ drives!!!!!

im using vista now so im a bit sketchy!!!!!

Is File and Printer sharing enabled in Windws firewall.
Did you run the Network file sharing wizard?
#9
I have the windows firewall on off. maybe i have other firewalls? but i dont see any icons on the task bar that relate to firewalls or an anti virus software.. is there a way to check if i have a firewall?

May or may not help anyone, but here is how i setup my shares at the PC side, works for me, i've seen some folks having problems there....

1 - Setup a new windows user account with password, for your xbox (And setup xbmc network with same user/pass)

2 - Disable simple file sharing. (Control panel/folder options/view)

3 - Right click folder to be shared, select "sharing and security"
Under both Sharing and Security, add user Xbox to the list

Just noticed you have no simple file sharing option, what version of windows are you on (XP, vista, home, pro...etc) Do you get the security tab? or the permissions option under sharing?
