TV Guide Fullscreen - possibly the most powerful TV Guide in the world. ;)

I'd hazard a guess that your android box is running Gotham (Kodi 13) or older. Can you check what version of Kodi you have installed on that?

I'm not even sure how one would get Kodi 13. Isn't that as far back as XBMC? No, I'm running Kodi 17.3.

It might be some strange dependency problem or you might have picked up the one commit that I messed up and didn't add the right version of the zip file to the repo a few days ago.

I just tried it on Windows 7 in fresh versions of Jarvis and Krypton 17.3 and they installed fine.

But I'm afraid the new option to show the currently linked addon logo is freezing Kodi if you're aggressive about scrolling and hit the PgUp or PgDn keys after the guide loads. This happens with your default skin set on my Windows 7 desktop PC with the 0.0.354 update as well as my Windows 10 notebook that's still on 0.0.351.
Try 0.0.355. I've added a delay to the threads so that it should only do the database lookup if the channel id is still the same after 50ms.
From my tests it worked ok while I held pagedown for a while but I haven't got many channels mapped up.
The 50ms delay might need a tweak.

I grab my own EPG data and at this point I have 183 channels that are all mapped. Another 40 for OTA channels I've yet to get NexPVR working again for since I reinstalled Windows 7.

It does seem TVGF 0.0.355 is not causing Kodi to freeze nearly as often now when I push starting TVGF after Kodu starts and immediately start scrolling. When I 1st booted my PC today, launched Kodi, started TVGF, and clicked a news channel all very quickly, the channel started streaming, but Kodi froze leaving the channel still streaming, I must confess I'm not all that tech savvy. But it did seem to help when I disabled the PVR that seems to sap Kodi at boot. I had a few other guides that I disabled too, as a couple of them would show alerts at Kodi boot & before I started them. That seemed to help too. But maybe it's just time to build a fresh copy of Kodi. And maybe learn to be more patient and give Kodi a little more time to settle in a bit before I hit the accelerator. Smile

I am amazed at how fast you're able to implement new features and get them tweaked Primaeval. I see where you fixed the problem of channels not linked to any addon displaying the logo for the last channel scrolled by that myname pointed out..

I ran a few recorded notepad++ macros on it, but have only gotten through about 1/5th the way, doing most work manually. Another reminder of just how powerful this guide is.
If you want to donate your notes to the wiki or add any content that would be helpful.
I'm sure quite a few people would be grateful for some extra help.

I'd be very happy to donate this text file of TVGF settings P. I'll PM you and attach it for you to review. You may want to check it over for errors, or change some of the language I added. Some sections like the VPN tab I wasn't too sure of. Only having been working with TVGF for the past few months, there's still a lot features I still need to wrap my head around.

If you have other TV Guides installed they are probably doing the Background Update at startup. There can be lot of file access and cpu use going on in the background. If you use a permanently on tv device you can schedule the updates to happen in the middle of the night so starting the guides is quick.

Thanks for the notes.

A full debug log of you accessing the repo in the add-ons manager may also throw out some clues as to why TVGF isn't showing up. If you install the add-on zip manually does it install or does it fail?

*NEW* Wiki
https://github.com/primaeval/script.tvgu...creen/wiki

You might be happy to hear I've started work on the Wiki at Github.

It's taken all week but I've added an explanation of all the Settings here:
https://github.com/primaeval/script.tvgu...i/Settings

Feel free to add any corrections or additions.

I'll see if I can go into a bit more detail about things like recording at some point.

If any skinners want to add a section with their insights about skinning that would be great.

I use a custom m3u file with matching xmltv file (channel id's match for channel matching purposes). It works great in the iptv pvr in kodi. I don't like the guide however. I wanted to try tvguide fullscreen, but I can't seem to figure out how to import the m3u file. Importing the xmltv file works fine, but when I tell the addon to use an m3u file and browse to it, it doesn't seem to take effect.

If the m3u doesn't change import it in "Menu \ Stream Setup \ Import Playlist".

If it changes a bit use "Settings \ Optional \ Import addons.ini \ Enable addons.ini m3u Playlist Subscriptions \ Manage addons.ini m3u Playlist Subscriptions". This will re-read it on every start.

If the channels match the xmltv ids and you don't want to use any other addons use: "Optional \ Import m3u". This will directly map the streams to the channels without having to choose them.

If the urls change all the time use my PVR Plugin Player or Stream Searcher addons.

I just spent a lot of time reordering my channels. How do I backup and how would I restore these changes?

I don't think I've made any direct way to pull in the channel ordering.
If you do some kind of "reset on start" or major change in the settings the ordering will probably be reset.

Make a backup of the database "userdata\addon_data\script.tvguide.fullscreen\source.db" when you've done your re-ordering.
At least then if everything goes wrong you should be able to put that back in the addon_data folder and start from where you were.

The initial channel ordering is done by the position in the xmltv file.

I'll have a look in the code and see if there is another way to restore it. I might have added something at some point. I'll update this post if I find anything.

Thanks! Also, is there a way to adjust the time of the EPG? The channels I'm using are 1 hour behind the EPG.

Not directly. Usually most people using TVGF seem to use their home made xmltv files where you can adjust the timezones if necessary.
Are your Kodi and OS timezones set correctly?

I might be able to add a Setting if none of that works for you.

There is something unnatural in your xml file that the xml parser can't understand.
Code:
ParseError: mismatched tag: line 6, column 2

What is the url of the xmltv file you are trying?

If you want a quick test of TV Guide Fullscreen I would recommend using one of the alternative sources in Settings\Lab2 like "tvguide.co.uk" or "yo.tv".

Thanx for reply -decide to go a different way downloaded suggested guide ie" guide_ukbasic.xmltv" and then tried to load file locally instead of using url
Got same error see below have tried many xmltv files which work with other similar apps all give same error.
Is guide_ukbasic.xmltv from "thai" site compatible?

I'm guessing you're using this http://thaisatellite.tv/ftv/guide.xmltv and it is falling over on the <star-rating> which is a field I'm not familiar with. Primaeval will know better than me though of course Smile

using http://thaisatellite.tv/ftv/guide_ukbasic.xmltv
I also have a xmltv file generated with webgrab++ from tv.sky.com . This file also gives same parse error "mismatched tag: line 6, column 2"
This leads me to believe that error has nothing to do with xmltv file used something in configuration seems to be amiss!
Thanx
