HTPC NAS Setup
#1
Hi everyone,

My name is Markus and I started using Kodi 2 months ago. Today I'd like to share my Kodi setup with you.

HTPC

Mainboard: Asrock QC5000 ITX/PH
Boot-HDD: SanDisk SSD PLUS 120GB
Data-HDD: 2x WD 3TB Red interne (got these before I decided to follow the NAS path
Blu-ray: Samsung SN-506BB/BEBE
Memory/RAM: Crucial Ballistix Sport 2x 4GB
Case: Antec ISK-600
PSU: SilverStone SST-ST50F
Fan: Be Quiet! BL030 Silent Wings 2 PWM
Misc: Syba PCI-Express-Controller-Card (SATA III, 4 Ports)
OS: Windows 10 Professional

Connected via HDMI to a Yamaha CX-A5000 pre-amp that forwards the picture to a Sanyo PLV-Z4000 projector.

NAS

NAS: Seagate WSS NAS 6x 2TB working in RAID-5
Blu-ray: External Samsung SN-506BB/BEBE Blu-ray drive
OS: Windows Storage Server 2012 R2

My goal was to build a system that is very quite and provides full bitstream capabilities for HD-audio and flawless 24p playback. Besides it had to be fully controllable by Roomie Remote/Simple Control on my iPad mini.

The NAS is located on the 1st floor in the room that I use as my office. Data is streamed to the basement by Devolo 650+ DLAN plugs that provide a steady connection speed between NAS and HTPC of around 300 Mbit.

So far I have been very happy with this setup but of course it's never too late for upgrades and tweaking.

If you have any comments and suggestions for improvements please let me have them!

Best regards from Germany,
Markus

+1 for the Antek ISK-600 case. It's a great ITX case. I'm using one for my TV server.
