v17 Video freeze for short times
#1
I have been running Kodi 17.0 alpha3 (LibreElec 7.90.004) on my Raspberry Pi 3 for about a week now.

Sometimes the video freezes for about a second. The audio plays as it should but video is stopped. In the following log file it happens at about 20:34, 20:42, 20:52, 21:52, 21:38

Code:
20:33:38 408674.000000 T:1443845024 WARNING: Previous line repeats 2 times.
20:33:38 408674.000000 T:1443845024   ERROR: CMMALVideo::GetPicture - called but m_output_ready is empty
20:33:38 408674.000000 T:1443845024 WARNING: Decoder Error getting videoPicture.
20:33:39 408675.125000 T:1443845024 WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer
20:42:11 409187.062500 T:1443845024 WARNING: Previous line repeats 11 times.
20:42:11 409187.062500 T:1443845024   ERROR: CMMALVideo::GetPicture - called but m_output_ready is empty
20:42:11 409187.062500 T:1443845024 WARNING: Decoder Error getting videoPicture.
20:42:12 409187.875000 T:1443845024 WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer
20:42:43 409218.625000 T:1962500096 WARNING: Previous line repeats 7 times.

I don't think its just a regular bandwidth/buffering issue. I tried provoking that in the other video, and then I only get this line:

Code:
22:31:36 415751.656250 T:1754264480 WARNING: CRenderManager::WaitForBuffer - timeout waiting for buffer

is something I've not seen before. I really need a debug log (wiki) with video component specific debug enabled to see what caused this.

Be aware that the logging files will get quite large if you can't provoke the issue quickly, but give it a try.
Ideally try to work out what sequence causes the issue.

I tried watching the same part of the video again were I had already gotten the issue, but the next time it would play correctly. Will see if I can get back with a more detailed log later today.

I have been trying for a few days to reproduce this issue with debug logging enabled. The behavior appears to change when I turn on the video component logging.

With the regular debug logs I get the same error as before, you can see it in this file https://dflund.se/~glyph/stuff/kodi/output_ready.log at 17:37:54 and 16:26:15 The whole file is 700 MB so I cut out the parts I believe relevant.

With the video component logging turned on I get more regular stutterings, every 4th minute or so. But these are much shorter, only fractions of a seconds. To me they look simply as a sign of increased load on the system caused by the excessive logging.

If anyone is interested this issue appears to be fixed in LibreELEC 7.09.005 / Kodi 17.0 beta 1

I believe this issue has returned.

I'll post in the correct support area with all the details and come back here and update with a link.
