What happen to the Veetle addon?

Looked for it in the repository, and the add-on page and saw no sign of it and can't really remember it. Perhaps it was depreciated many moons ago or it was a forums work in progress; regardless it's not archived on this site and no sign that it was ever hosted here.
According to some external searches, the add-on ran into some legal hurdles and is no longer. I suspect this add-on would be listed in our banned add-ons and as such would be in violation of the forum rules, but it's hard to keep up with these things. Official:Forum rules/Banned add-ons (wiki)
