[RELEASE] ZDF Mediathek Plugin - German Television
#1
Thumbs Up
Hi,
I just put together a scaper plugin for ZDF mediathek ( http://www.zdf.de/ZDFmediathek/content/9...Popup=true ). Note that it only displays the videos, not the image galleries, that's why some categories are empty. Download it here:

Nice work, but did you know I made a XBMC Online TV (XOT) Framework for these kind of scrapers?? You can create your own channel, using a few lines of code, and let the XOT Framework do the rest!

You can find more information here: http://code.google.com/p/xot-uzg/

It would be really nice if you could create a channel for ZDF instead of this scraper.

That could be, but (correct me if I am wrong) in a script you can create your own GUI that holds much more information? If I look at the channels that are present in the XOT-Uzg package, the items there show summaries, thumbnails, air-dates and more. I don't see how that could fit in a plugin?

OT: sorry Unbehagen,

simple, if the plugin sets the info, view the plugin from library view and select media info view as your view. or select movie information.

plugins can set most of the infolabels that are available. Try AMT's plugin for a demo.

True. I was already planning an XOT-Plugin that uses the same channels files, but implement them as a plugin. Perhaps than it would be nice to include this one in both script and plugin.

Basje, I suggested this a few weeks ago, but did not get any reply in the XOT-Thread (http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid...post147209 ). I also suggested this: http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=29094 .

I'd love to contribute to an XOT-Plugin. I prefer plugins, because they integrate into the look and feel of XBMC so nicely. And one architecture for all scrapers would be the best, one that is useable by the script and the plugin.

I will see on how to create a plugin from the current XOT Framework. I am quite busy this week, so it won't be before the weekend. Then I have good inside in what help I could use. Help is of course, always welcom.

What I think would be great is if a plugin (in library view mode) could be viewed from within a script, then the users could get the best of both worlds, the database convinence of a plugin but the custom GUI of a script, ...and those who do not like that custom GUI could just choose to use the plugin as a plain plugin (which can be used from any skin today and in the future without costumization to the script).

I suggested this in the plugin python directory services thread but I do not think that I got my point accross http://forum.xbmc.org/showthread.php?tid=28031

PS! Maybe this discussion should be moved into that thread mentioned above though? Huh

At the moment I am working on one script that can be placed in both the script folder and the plugin folder. It detects what it needs to be, a script or plugin.

However, what I don't get is how to get stuff in the library view from a plugin. Any suggestions on that?
