Android - Zidoo X9S, X8 & X10 (4K / HDR / 3D / HD Audio): Review & User Impressions
#31
Indeed. IIRC, you even must be a user/customer to be in a position to request it, so requesting on the spot is a bit harsh...
I guess it's basically a rebranded RKMC, anyway...

PS That doesn't mean I'd have an objection to this kind of threads to be closed as out of topic, though, as those Rockchip devices will probably never see an official Kodi installed Wink

I'd like to know how is the quality of Realtek DAC. Realtek have broad experience making decent sound chipsets for computer motherboards.

him talking about X9s DAC Analog audio output , you need a cable AV (composite + audio stereo) jack to RCA , that there's is not in box ( little mistake ).

like this:

Android "Premium" player should be have a stero RCA analog output, it's not big deal , but for some user is very important.

PS: at the moment i don't have more x9s, i hope in near future i can test it again.

Yeah, it's just about on par with HiMedia Q5/Q10 Pro at this point, and after Zidoo makes further improvements, it could very well beat HiMedia. I like both players, and plan to keep both.

You can tell I'm not much a hi-def music listener Wink. I have one of those cables; what types of audio files to test? Samples online I can download? Thanks.

Not sure whether you have seen this thread: http://forum.kodi.tv/showthread.php?tid=...pid2417820

@mo123 develops ROMs for Nagrace Rockchip boxes. It looks like Rockchip is mending ways.

It looks like they are testing it on all RK devices: Call out to all Kodi users
According to @mo123 it may work on Nagrace, Ugoos and Tronsmart R68 boxes with firmware later than June 2016.

@hdmkv or mirror88,

What do you think of the results of CNX software about playback :

I do not know if they made tests with the latest FW 1.2.3

http://www.cnx-software.com/2016/09/21/4...9s-tv-box/

4K videos results in ZDMC:

HD.Club-4K-Chimei-inn-60mbps.mp4 (4K H.264 @ 30 fps, MPEG4-AAC audio) – Not smooth [Update: Realtek RTD1295 is limited to 4K H.264 @ 24 fps]
Beauty_3840x2160_120fps_420_8bit_HEVC_MP4.mp4 (H.265 @ 30 fps – No audio) – OK
big_buck_bunny_4k_H264_30fps.mp4 (H.264 @ 30 fps – MPEG1/2 and AC3 audio) – Not smooth [Update: Realtek RTD1295 is limited to 4K H.264 @ 24 fps]
BT.2020.20140602.ts (H.265 Rec.2020 compliant – AAC audio) – Not smooth
Fifa_WorldCup2014_Uruguay-Colombia_4K-x265.mp4 (H.265 @ 60 fps – AC3) – Not smooth
MHD_2013_2160p_ShowReel_R_9000f_24fps_RMN_QP23_10b.mkv (10-bit HEVC @ 24 fps – no audio) – OK
Samsung_UHD_Dubai_10-bit_HEVC_51.4Mbps.ts (10-bit HEVC / MPEG-4 AAC) – OK
The.Curvature.of.Earth.4K.60FPS-YT-UceRgEyfSsc.VP9.3840×2160.OPUS.160K.webm (4K VP9 @ 60 fps) – Not smooth*
暗流涌动-4K.mp4 (4K 10-bit H.264 video) – Many artifacts, and slow decoding due to software decode, but fully expected since RTD1295 does not support 10-bit h.264
Tara-no9-vp9.webm (4K VP9 YouTube video @ 60 fps) – Not smooth, audio delays and artifacts*

-------------------

But maybe the internal player “Media Center” is better at playing videos, and some people even explained how to create a Kodi to Media Center wrapper to play videos. 4K video playback results with “Media Center” app:

HD.Club-4K-Chimei-inn-60mbps.mp4 (4K H.264 @ 30 fps, MPEG4-AAC audio) – Not smooth
Beauty_3840x2160_120fps_420_8bit_HEVC_MP4.mp4 (H.265 @ 30 fps – No audio) – OK
big_buck_bunny_4k_H264_30fps.mp4 (H.264 @ 30 fps – MPEG1/2 and AC3 audio) – Watchable but not perfect (some frame drops)
BT.2020.20140602.ts (H.265 Rec.2020 compliant – AAC audio) – Not smooth and no audio
Fifa_WorldCup2014_Uruguay-Colombia_4K-x265.mp4 (H.265 @ 60 fps – AC3) – OK
MHD_2013_2160p_ShowReel_R_9000f_24fps_RMN_QP23_10b.mkv (10-bit HEVC @ 24 fps – no audio) – OK
Samsung_UHD_Dubai_10-bit_HEVC_51.4Mbps.ts (10-bit HEVC / MPEG-4 AAC) – OK
The.Curvature.of.Earth.4K.60FPS-YT-UceRgEyfSsc.VP9.3840×2160.OPUS.160K.webm – Watchable but not perfect (not 100% smooth)
Tara-no9-vp9.webm (4K VP9 YouTube video @ 60 fps) – Not smooth
That’s some improvement but still not perfect, and I was expecting better 4K video support. Hopefully most of the issue will be fixed before I complete the full review.

Thanks... I just posted a reply there asking where I can get those 3 video samples that failed in their test.

Edit: just realized I made a mistake as to which types failed or don't play as well via native/external player (which is better than ZDMC internal anyway). I'll test/re-test more VP9, and also (1) HD.Club-4K-Chimei-inn-60mbps.mp4, (2) big_buck_bunny_4k_H264_30fps.mp4, and (3) BT.2020.20140602.ts (H.265 Rec.2020 compliant – AAC audio (if I can find this somewhere to download).

Will re-test those. Also, some of my 4K clips are BT2020, so will re-test those as well.
