Linux Live HD TV issues

Hi,

It is my first time putting together a kodi box . I did not buy this hardware to put together a kodi box initially.

<---------------------------------------------------------------------->

Motherboard : AsRock H81TM-ITX --> Detail Spec --> http://www.asrock.com/mb/Intel/H81TM-ITX/
CPU : Intel G3260
RAM : 4GB DDR 3
HDD Drive : 500GB Toshiba 5400 rpm
LAN : Connected via dedicated CAT 6A cable
OS : Linux
ISP : 1 Gbps over fibre and I connect over VPN for streaming.

<---------------------------------------------------------------------->

I been trying to stream live HD TV using official kodi addons.

After few seconds of playing, the frame freezes, it starts buffering and plays properly again or it just plays video at fps without audio.

I did create an "advancesettings.xml" but it does not seem to be much of a help.

<---------------------------------------------------------------------->
[advancesettings.xml]

<advancedsettings>
<network>
<curlclienttimeout>10</curlclienttimeout>
<curllowspeedtime>10</curllowspeedtime>
<curlretries>2</curlretries>
<httpproxyusername></httpproxyusername>
<httpproxypassword></httpproxypassword>
<cachemembuffersize>3145728000</cachemembuffersize>
<buffermode>1</buffermode>
<readbufferfactor>1.5</readbufferfactor>
</network>
</advancedsettings>
<---------------------------------------------------------------------->

Please let me know if I should try anything different.

Thank you for reading and for all upcoming suggestions.

Without digging into anything, streaming will only ever be as good as the slowest part of your connection. It doesn't matter how fast the bit to your house is if the other end can't send data fast enough, or there is a bottleneck at some router along the way.

Yes, playing with the advancedsettings can help smooth things out, but essentially, if the data ain't arriving fast enough, no amount of settings at your end will change that.

Thanks for the quick reply.

I figured that may be one of many factors. I suspect it is my hardware rendering.
I don't understand the entire log file but it seem like my CPU (Core 1 or Core 2) goes to 100% when it starts buffering.

Hmm, BBC should certainly be able to pump out the data fast enough.

Can you grab a full debug log (wiki) of you trying to play a stream with iPlayer and post it somewhere like pastebin and then link back to it here.

Cheers

Hi Pasado,

Thanks for the information.

My intend is to support the true KODI project purpose.

I am still new to Kodi, I will try to keep up the reading.

Would you recommend an addon that can access/stream HD material that would be withn the rules to test and generate logs with if a user is experiencing difficulties?

@slipstream007 as mentioned we cannot diagnose your issue as you have unsupported add-ons installed that not only violate the forum rules but have been known to interfere with performance and stability.

My advice would be to try and replicate your issue with a clean system and then post a link to your new log for analysis.
Always read the Wiki, FAQ and search the forum before posting.
Read/follow the forum rules.

Agree with your reasoning and statement.

Would you recommend an addon that can access/stream HD material and location of some free access HD material to stream, that would be within the forum rules to test and generate logs with if a user is experiencing difficulties?

It depends somewhat where you are (or where your IP address is), as geolocking comes into play and would rule out many add-ons if the location is wrong.

The generic place to start is YouTube and its add-on here, but whether you can find suitable test material there is another story.

But in many cases if the issue is trying to stream HD content from crappy servers temporarily hosting illegal media, then the issue won't be the local end. People like Netflix don't take your money just for the fun of it, they do use it to run decent server farms to maintain the quality of service that's expected of them, and that is not exactly the top priority of the black-market area...

I have YouTube addon installed, one down.

Now just need to find/agree on a Youtube HD video that could be used as a reference stream for testing, from which a valid log could be taken?

Hi everyone, thanks for reply and making it clear.

I have re-installed the kodi. I am still getting the same issue with streaming.

I have pasted my log there.

There's a lot of failed to connects from the openweathermap script in the log.

Can you try to disable that add-on and confirm is not screwing up your connection in trying to connect?

Big bucks bunny is a common standard one.

Their main website for downloading and streaming is here as YouTube is a bit limited I think at the moment in the resolution it supports.
