Win HDR Support Window 10
#91
Hi,
Was playing arround with UHD HDR movies within KODI 17.6 and thought sharing
my findings could be helpful and I wanted to ask why KODI handles HDR that way.

System is:
Mainboard: AsRock Z270 board
CPU: Intel Kabylake with HD630 GPU
Intel driver for GPU: newest from 28.12.17
Win10 64bit with Fall creators update and HDR activ

1. Using KODI in fullscreen without window:
- KODI UI not in HDR
- HDR Movies are played washedout and no autoswitching to HDR mode
- but manually switching the projector to HDR seems pretty correct for the HDR movies,
of course no HDR flag and info for 10bit is sent to projector. But the movie is not washedout
anymore and seems correct.

2. Using KODI in fullscreen windowed:
- projector stays automatically on HDR mode all the time, like with Windows UI
- HDR movies are played washedout and no chance to get them correct within KODI mediaplayer.
But Signalinfo in projector shows HDR and 10 or even 12bit.

So I am using fullscreen without window at the moment because the movies with HDR seem correct and
I switch manually to none HDR mode for BD and KODI UI, but to HDR mode while playing a HDR
movie.

I know that KODI is not HDR compatible at the moment, but I am wondering why KODI handles
the HDR movies different in fullscreen window and not windowed?

EDIT: sorry I was wrong, with Fullscreen Window ON the UI stays in HDR. Changed it...

Use mpcbe as external player (look up how to use extended players in kodi). These settings pass hdr through my rx470 amd card to trigger hdr and show it correctly. Here is a video I made that may help

You can use xdr but this requires adjusting levels and storing into xdr.cal file.

Please update your windows 10 to dec 2 2017 creators update.

Did you ever test with Intel GPU HD630? Seems to need other settings, because
the settings from the video don‘t work and some are different.
