Wink
All of a sudden Kodi said 'add-on is incompatible due to unmet competencies' and every time I try to reach it comes back repeatedly.

Stop Kodi

Set up debug logging by editing advancedsettings.xml.

Start Kodi.

If I did I would have said so in my post Wink I'm not a Mac user, so I just tidied it up to the right place so the people who are might see it.

That said I think there are other threads in this section on the same or a similar topic.

@JKodes - apparently this is a symptom of a corrupted add-ons database.

Go to your userdata (wiki) folder, and in there there should be a database folder. Inside that, look for an addons**.db file (** will be numbers, exactly which depends on which version of Kodi you are running).

Move those addons**.db files out of that folder somewhere else and restart Kodi. It should then rebuild its add-ons database which will hopefully resolve your issue.
