Play notifications not consistently issued when interacting with the builtin GUI

Does not it make sense to send a Player.OnPlay notification when the player is currently playing yet a new item is selected for play on the built in GUI?

Currently I notice only Playlist.Clear, and Playlist.Add notifications are dispatched.
And neither of these independently confirms to a client the pertinent information of a new item has been started for playback...

Polling is rather a poor way to accomplish this as well.
If the argument is that the built in GUI should not be considered for use in conjunction with a json client, i wouldn't agree.
