Auto scrape for Home Videos
#1
Hi,

I have a lot of home videos that I am trying to bring into Kodi as a TV show with seasons and Episodes. I have them setup in the following folder structure:

ShowName\Season 01\S01E01.avi
ShowName\Season 01\S01E02.avi
ShowName\Season 02\S02E01.avi
ShowName\Season 02\S02E02.avi
ShowName\Season ...

I can edit each episode and create thumbnails manually in Ember Media Manager; however, it is going to take forever to go through the hundreds of videos I have. Is there a way to have EMM automagically create NFO files and thumbnails without having to edit each episode manually? I would be happy if I can simply use the file name to create NFO files and a random frame from the video as the thumbnail. I can then manually edit the ones I need to have more info on.

Thanks.

Not yet. Auto creation is only available for fanarts, but should by possible to use the same function to create episode posters/thumbs.

Wow, great. I love batch files. I use them all the time. :-) (yep, I am an oldie)

I guess I better get batching. I already have the folder structure and files renamed appropriately so I guess all I need to do is create the XML files with the same name as the file name.I will try and find another way to create thumb jpg files.

Quote:Extract thumbnail and video information
When enabled, Kodi will extract thumbnails from videos that have no thumb in the library and information such as codecs and aspect ratio to display in Library Mode.

Thank you Zerocool.
I have looked at the link and found the thumbnail location. Honestly, I found it pretty useless for my use. I wish the filename for these thumbnails was a bit more related to the video's filename rather than some random file name. It would have been better if there was an option to store thumbnail along with the original video file. I guess I will have to either do this manually one "episode" at a time or find another utility for bulk creation.

Thank you for all your help. Big Grin

Haven't tried it myself, but it seems to do exactly what you want!

I found Auto Movie Thumbnailer here (https://funk.eu/amt/). It is great and free. I found it much easier than other solutions.
