v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
Not all settings of spectrum visualisation are working. "Points" looks just like "Wireframe" to me and I can see no difference between the speed steps.
Just thought i post this here because libreelec and visualisation builds are both from you, milhouse.

Are you using the latest version #1205 from http://milhouse.libreelec.tv/builds/addons/ ?

I noticed that Kodi's sliding menus are sometimes not smooth, especially when watching a live TV and this can only be fixed by restarting Kodi/reboot.
I tried to find a way to reliably reproduce this issue and found out that the "jerkiness" appear when I enable and then disable teletext.
I should add that this seem to be RPi-specific and only happens when I turn on/off teletext on 1080i (AVC) HD channels. I'm unable to reproduce this on a PC.

What happens if you change advanced deinterlace to bob?
What happens if you switch to "half" versions?
What happens if you disable deinterlace completely?

De-interlacing does not make any difference. Even with no deinterlacing if I switch to a HD channel and turn the teletext on/off, the FPS of menus will drop. Of course, this will not be obvious if "Limit GUI updates during playback" is set to a lower value. But with "unlimited" setting the FPS drop is very obvious.

Yes, installed all latest builds.

Sorry, not too familiar with python. So i won't try your script anytime soon. Maybe i will try with a fresh install because i want to test tvh 4.3 with hardware encoding anyway but not on my current system...

Hello Milhouse,
is it really neccesary to check the quality of the root password? I think every changed password is better than the default one.
Regards oliaros

We think so, yes. Have you looked at the change? passwd would simply warn if you entered a blank/weak/short password as root, while preventing non-root users from choosing the same blank/weak/short password. Now root is treated the same as ordinary users. If you don't like entering a password then configure a public/private key (and disable password login).

it seems, that passwd does not accept weak passwords:

----------------------------cut here----------------------
LibreELEC:~ # passwd
Changing password for root
New password:
Bad password: too weak
passwd: password for root is unchanged
----------------------------cut here----------------------

regards, oliaros

Yes, we've already established that - what point are you making?

Enter a "strong" password (a weak password would be something like "password" or "12345678").

Quoting from the passwd documentation page:
Code:
Then, the password is tested for complexity. As a general guideline, passwords should consist of 6 to 8 characters including one or more characters from each of the following sets:

·   lower case alphabetics
·   digits 0 thru 9
·   punctuation marks

Care must be taken not to include the system default erase or kill characters.  passwd will reject any password which is not suitably complex.
Some might argue that 8 characters isn't enough for a strong password.

I'm sorry to have to tell you that this method of measuring the strength of a password is outdated.

chinaspaghettitankflower
is a much stronger password than
C7.b#Ybs

And it's easier to memorize.

Thanx for the explanation. I just wondered why  lower case alphabetics in combination with punctuation marks was not enough to create a strong 8 character password. Obviously digits are missing.

Hi all,

I mean, the system can suggest that the password is weak.
But it should leave the choice to the owner - is called democracy  Smile
