[Kodi 18 Leia] LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
Since the #0101 build: avi and mkv files will not start playing from SMB. (upgrade - not fresh install)
I noticed some smb changes in this build. And the problems also occurs today with the #0102 build.

There are no smb changes in #0101 or #0102 - the most recent Samba change is in #1227 (bump to 4.7.4) and I tested this without issue against a variety of servers (Windows 7, FreeNAS 8.3, Ubuntu 17.10 and LibreELEC 9). I continue to have now smb issues with #0102.

Since I don't know the version you were using before upgrading to #0101, you'll need to be clear and confirm which is the last working build.

A debug log from #0102 that demonstrates the playback failure would also be useful. I would also suggest you restart your SMB server just to be sure it's not a server-side issue.

It seems when #0101 scans a new TV show, at least an hevc mkv file it scans and includes the encoded metadata title whatever that may be set to, and includes it in the library. Previously it grabbed the info from the filename and pulled the correct information from the TVDB scraper which seemed to work well.

FYI, I did the video database update through texturecache.py vscan

Edit... here is a screenshot of what I'm talking about, and the "Hi Milhouse" displays in the Kodi GUI Library too.

So you added "(Hi Milhouse)" to the filename and previously this wasn't being added to the library? Possibly the scraper has changed - try repeating your test with a build from a month ago, if it's the same result then it's likely an updated (TMDB?) scraper.
No, the filename remained the same Blindspot S03E09 the issue is with the encoded metadata title. I spend the last 90 minutes trying different builds, the problem began with build 1221 and remained all the way through 0101, but it was fixed in last nights 0102 build. I wish I tried that one first not last.

If you care for more details, I spent time taking screenshots, etc that I can post, or since it's a moot point now, we can forget it, your call.

I'm happy it's fixed now (not sure what caused it or what fixed it - maybe the video tags PR in #0102?) but if it happens again it can be looked into.

I did a fresh install of 8.2.2 and then updated to #1231, then to #0101. The SMB playback broke on #0101, so I probably can revert to to #1231 without any issues.
I can also try and restart the smb.

I had to do a lot of custom configs provided on the libreelec forum to get the smb to work on 8.2.2 and earlier stable builds since I have an Apple Time Capsule that have some issues with KODI in general since I'm running LibreELEC on Raspberry Pi. It could be a mounting issue or something else.

I will try a couple of things and I will upload the debug log.

EDIT:
Playback started working again after SMB restart, then I experienced buffer issues and lag on playback.
After a few minutes I got the Playback failed error message. Now Error Connection timeout on SMB.

Did try to revert #1231 and still issues. Probably will need to try a clean install.
If it fails up update I will try reverting to #1227.
But I suspect something broke in smb config or similar when upgrading to #0101

In recent builds I noticed and occasional audio dropouts for a fraction of a second when watching live TV.
Code:

Ok, here's the weird thing. Those dropouts / ActiveAE errors occur exactly every hour:
Code:
04:59:22.201 T:1919939472 NOTICE: CAESinkPi:AddPackets Underrun (delay:0.00 frames:1200)
05:59:32.087 T:1930425232 WARNING: ActiveAE - large audio sync error: -89415.237486

Any ideas?

Hi, it's been a long time since I've run an update, the one I last was # 0701, and it works, now I've been trying to update to # 0103, and then my remote control does not work anymore, I'm running with IR diode as in the picture .
Can I fix the new updates, I can use my remote?

I removed this:
Code:
# Build Kodi using parallel LTO
[ "$LTO_SUPPORT" = "yes" ] && PKG_KODI_USE_LTO="-DUSE_LTO=$CONCURRENCY_MAKE_LEVEL"
Code:
$PKG_KODI_USE_LTO \

With those changes DVDs work. With untouched package.mk - DVDs don't work.
A totally clean build from current LE master also does not play DVDs since this - kodi: enable USE_LTO. If I remove LTO support from package.mk it works fine. Maybe some sort of issue with gcc?

"Connection timeout" usually suggests the client is unable to negotiate a usable version of the SMB protocol with the server.

The default Kodi client configuration in these builds will negotiate from SMB1/NT1 up to SMB3, but if you've been customising these settings then you may have caused the problem you now have.

Also check your Samba server configuration to make sure you haven't configured it in such a way that prevents the Kodi client from connecting.

Without knowing what you have changed or configured (in either the client or server), or what server you are using, it's impossible to give you more specific advice - I would suggest you start a new thread on the LibreELEC forum if you continue to have issues after double checking your client and server settings. I guarantee this is not an issue with these builds, but with your Samba configuration.

Can you start a thread on the LibreELEC forum as it's OT for this particular thread. In your thread can you describe your build host (Fedora? Debian? Ubuntu? What version?). I really don't know why LTO would break DVD playback - maybe one of the other community builders will have an idea. So far I've not seen anyone else report this issue however the LTO support only merged a few days ago so it may not have received extensive testing.

I've uploaded a new build of script.moonlight. If it doesn't work please open an issue with the addon maintainer: https://github.com/dead/script.moonlight
