v18 -  LibreELEC Testbuilds for RaspberryPi (Kodi 18.0)
(2018-01-31, 21:01)tjost Wrote: Ignore my SSD1306 error. It was an hardware error. Sorry for confusion.

What I notice on Video/Audio sync problem on LiveTV is that some station had Dolby Digital 2.0/5.1 Sound but while the advertisement it is only mp2 stereo. On switching it starts the desync. After switching the audio the Audio and Video is back in sync.

I use a Raspberry Pi 3 with Pifi-Digi (hifiberry clone) on optical sp-dif
Does a recording of the channel have the same de-sync issue?
Reply
Same is happening on android fyi. Even backing out to the gui and going back fullscreen the audio is horribly out of sync.
Iirc it started several days ago after some videoplayer merge

I noticed the black-screen on live-tv and interlaced material issue goes away, when I switch to 50hz instead of 60hz in the video settings

Hi Milhouse

With the weekly #0129x build I have found an issue. Playback of Blu-ray MKV's from USB is stuttering. With normal #0129 build it's playing fine.
I make two debug logs-
kodi-#0129.log
kodi-#0129x.log

Thanks. It would be worth testing the 4.15-rc's to see if they also have the same issue. Presumably this behaviour is repeatable and consistent with 4.15?

# Kodi version
(18.0-ALPHA1 Git:b33ba4d). Platform: Linux ARM 32-bit

Based on tip of LibreELEC.tv master (dc276f8, changelog) and tip of XBMC master (cdabc29, changelog) with the following modifications: Build Highlights:
  1. New firmware
  2. New 4.14.16 kernel
  3. [xbmc] refactor instantiation of storage provider and power manager syscalls
Quote:The power manager refactor means the end of Virtual Suspend which is no longer supported.

Use https://github.com/asavah/script.pidisplaypower by @asavah as an alternative to switch off the display when the system is idle.

It will however switch off the display during music playback, so as a workaround install a visualisation (such as Waveform) and enable the "Use visualisation if playing audio" option in the Screensaver settings.

The refresh rate / black screen / live tv issues are (mostly) fixed in #0131.

Not immediately I had to do a reboot, then everything was fine :-)

Can anyone test if there is an audio/video stuttering during a Live TV recording (when you watch and record at the same time)? When I record a 1080i channel to an sdcard or USB flash drive I get a lot of audio/video stuttering. But the recorded stream is ok.

I still see a weird auto refresh rate behaviour during switching of the TV channels.
When I switch to some 1080i50 channels the video mode will switch to 1080p25 for a fraction of a second and then to a correct 1080p50. This makes TV channel switching slower.

Update: I was able to workaround the issue by editing edid.dat and removing 1080p25 from supported modes list.

#0130 logs http://ix.io/F2C
#0131 logs http://ix.io/F2E

#0126 was the last version that did not have issues with black screens and the image freezing.

#0127 - #0131 have the issue though a reboot will often resolve these issues for a time but the issues eventually come back

Handbrake reports "Untouchables S04E17.mkv" as 59.94
The logs for #0126 & #0131 show the frame rate as 59.94

The logs for #0127 to #0130 show the frame rate as 29.97. As well as this the frame rate for any videos I have played with these versions show at half the frame rate indicated by Handbrake and that reported by #0126

For Untouchables S04E17.mkv the image quality of #0127 to #0131 is substantially improved on that for #0126 & #0131My TV will not show the frame rate it is display at.

I have tried #0128 using “editing /storage/.cache/mmap_threshold.conf and put a # at the beginning of the line to disable the mmap threshold” but this has not solved the black screens and the image freezing issue.

Thank you!

Installed the system tools, upgraded to Kodi 18.0 but still no luck with the bulgarian subtitle downloader... could be the problem is with it.

But I tested the unrar via CLI and it worked perfectly... I guess it`s the plugin.

If I were you I would contact the maintainer of the subtitle addon and let them determine what is broken. With Kodi 18 there is no longer native rar support, so maybe the subtitle add-on needs updating to use vfs.rar.

This isn't a permanent fix - you may find higher resolution video fails to keep up, but it does help to narrow down where the problem is.
Let me know if it is still good after longer testing.
so far it seems to work with MMAL disabled.
