Hi guys

Is 3d frame packed supported on these builds?

Yes. Make sure you've enabled "Enable Full HD HDMI modes for stereoscopic 3D" and "Adjust display refresh rate to match video".

Can't wait for a next smooth test built. will there be a new one in the next days? It's a damn fast built, I love it Smile.

What's wrong/not smooth with the latest build? Not sure I understand your post, to be honest...

@Milhouse:

I read your test build post like there will be a test build with the current kernel being released weekly, with the newest fixes and improvements of the current alpha branch.

Have I misunderstood you in that point?

Kind Regards,

Germeleon

If you are referring to 4.17/4.18 kernels - they are not yet ready for prime time.

There are some show-stopper bugs (invalid resolution of 0x0 reported for modes instead of eg 1920x1080, sometimes network doesn't come up on 3B+ with 4.18) so you wouldn't be too happy testing these.

As the main support work from the Raspberry Pi foundation happens on 4.14 it's better sticking to just this kernel series until these issues are resolved.

so long,

Hias

the stuttering issues I was seeing with hevc in #0722 appear to be fixed with #0725

Depends what you mean by "current" kernel.

There are regular nightly builds posted here with the 4.14.y longterm kernel, as that is the current kernel branch used by LE master for Raspberry Pi.

There are also occasional (ideally weekly, but not always - sometimes longer) test releases based on the latest 4.18-rc mainline kernel which may be a candidate kernel after 4.14.y, depending on the resolution of outstanding issues.

Other than the kernel, both builds should be similar with regard to Kodi.

First of all , thank you Milhouse for all your amazing work, I've been using a RPI2 with the experimental builds for some time. I had no major issues so far and recently I upgraded to a RPI3, to get some more processing power. I reinstalled it clean and now some of the movies that were working before are no longer working. I get buffering / stuttering and it's driving me crazy, I upgraded to the latest version and got the log . I would appreciate any hint on this.

Do you still have your RPi2? If so, put the SD card from the RPi3 in the RPi2 and see if you have the same issues. From your log I'm not sure what the problems are, can you describe the issues - is it stutter, audio problems, or something else? Maybe upload a sample?

It's stutter , both video and audio and occasional buffering. I have found two movies so far that are unwatchable anymore. I will try to extract a sample.

I just tried on the old RPI2. It doesn't stutter but every 30 seconds or so it stops and does buffering. (I haven't messed now with advanced settings related to cache. I did a few tests, it was worse and removed the advanced settings file I created). The RPI is on a wired connection , tied to a gigabit Mikrotik router configured as access point. Copying the update for example on it went for a solid 10MB/s.

1 minute sample : https://we.tl/u8tCYqONXX

 I am using audio on passthrough on all audio formats to a Yamaha receiver.

just setup a fresh image for my Zero W (was going to make a lil Kitchen system for Music while cooking, bring up youtube etc. ) and the latest Build 0726 was installed, (copie dto Update folder) and its connected over Wifi.

it's failing to download plugins or dependencies from the official repo.

Log: http://ix.io/1iwI
(using a slightly overkill Power supply for a Zero, 3A USB power ment for a Pi3)

(it got resolved by booting into windows vs OSX on the MacMini i used,   any idea in the log what happened other than likely just a corrupted install?)
Reply
@ktfzone is you pi3 a pi3b or pi3b+?
If its "+" enable "flow control" on the port your pi3 is connected to.
