Thanks for reporting back!

Could you please also post some more details about IR config (your keytable and rc_maps.cfg files), then I'll have a look what went wrong with the v4l-utils bump.

Since you are using lirc, have you disabled ir-keytable configuration by creating an empty rc_maps.cfg, as described in the wiki?
https://wiki.libreelec.tv/infrared_remot...using_lirc

If not, create the empty rc_maps.cfg file and test again with build 0803

Ok, let me try with #803 again.

With empty rc_maps.cfg in .config, #803 work fine !

 Thanks a lot for testing!

@Milhouse you can add back the v4l-utils bump. Enabling both lirc and ir-keytable config is racy and known to cause various issues.

Based on the above, would jumping between Nightlie versions determine where ffmpeg2video-mmal was updated versus the version in 8.2.5?

If you're sure you have no problem with 8.2.5 and RPi3+ without the MPEG codec licence, then identifying the regression in these test builds would be useful.

Or post a sample video (5 minutes) that can hopefully be used to reproduce the problem.

The above file should reproduce the black screen flickering issue.

I seem to be locked into the HW decoder, though, as I've commented out the 'decode_MPG2' line in 'config.txt' and I'm still getting HW decoding.  If I downgrade to start testing different versions, is there a way to force myself back to software mmal?

Additionally, is there a recommended starting point for the 3B+ with test versions?  It seems as though starting at 'LibreELEC-RPi2.arm-9.0-Milhouse-20170801215819-#0801-geb93713' doesn't get beyond initial boot screen.

Sorry, that file download site requires an email address - can you upload to Dropbox or Googledrive?

The best way to disable hardware decode is to disable OMXPlayer and MMAL options in Settings > Player > Videos > Processing

Official RPi3B+ compatibility in these builds is introduced on the launch date of the RPi3B+ on 14 March 2018 (#0314). Builds before this date are not guaranteed to boot successfully on a RPi3B+.

Can you post a debug log, as I'm not yet able to reproduce with my limited selection of BD ISOs.

I only tested with BDMV folders, no idea if isos are affected.

The screen flicker when using software decode and your test file starts with #0613, can you confirm?

Reverting the following PR stops the flickering with software decode:
