I have a very strange issue with the HDMI Output of my RPI3 (however I tried 2 RPI3s and 2 different TVs) - I think this is a Software issue on the Rpi. Same scenario on my Wetek Play2 --> no problem.

Steps to reproduce:
1) Give Power to Rpi3 and TV at the same time (e.g. with a switch)
2) RPi3/Libreelec powers up before my TV can power up
3) Startup TV and select HDMI channel: no picture/sound via HDMI
4) RPI is awake and can be restarted with Kore App (ore SSH)
5) Picture is showing up and everything is running without issues

As i said: 2 different RPI3s, 2 different TVs - same problem.
Same scenario on wetek play2: no issues since about 2 years!

my guess would be, that on "startup without tv" the follwing screen resolution is choosen:
720 x 480 with 720 x 480i @ 60.000000 Hz

This resolution is not in the list when started with TV (only without the i). I tried Libreelec alpha 6,8,9 - is this a known issue? Can this be fixed?

Thank you,
Linkin

only noticeable difference i find in the log:

Thanks Milhouse
@linkinsoldier

I had similar problem, try with delayed start of RPI. It had helped me.

Enter in config.txt
boot_delay=5

That's 5 seconds delay

Thanks. But my TV is hidden in a cupboard and the motor to "slide" it out is pretty slow, so that would be around 30 seconds every time... And really depends on how fast I turn the TV on and so on... Not really wife acceptance like Smile

Other suggestion:

I'll never turn off my RPI3, only when I update Libreelec.
In the settings I set when the TV is off, the playback of the live TV is stopped

The Pi uses the presence of the HDMI hotplug pin to decide whether to drive HDMI or composite on boot.

Most TVs assert hotplug when plugged it (even when on standby), but some only do when powered on.

Follow this: https://kodi.wiki/view/Raspberry_Pi_FAQ#...d_on_first
thats for your feedback and tipps! I looked into it more detailed and have a few interesting findings:

I have a recent andoid TV (from Sony) and it looks, like the android tv needs to "power up" before "answering" to the pi. When I use the "force HDMI Hotplug" option in config.txt, I get HDMI every time, however it only shows a "small picture in the middle of the screen". Its about 640p (instead of the choosen 1080p) - I guess there is a bug?

I "fixed" it for me by using the boot_delay=20 option in /flash/config.txt. My TV takes something between 15-19s to boot up into android (if i turn it on fast enough, I still see the android tv boot logo). With delay 15s I still get the error, 20s is working reproducable!

Thank you for the help. I leave it like this for the moment. Will the config.txt be changed via future updates or will it keep the new option?
Is this "how it should be" or will this be improved for "plug and play users"? Like a "wait x seconds if no hdmi connections is present, otherwise boot up now". That would actually be quite nice, because with this boot delay a reboot takes forever Smile

Did you follow my link? You need to do more than just hdmi_force_hotplug to get the right resolution.

Note: The issue is that kodi needs to read the EDID from the TV which contains the list of supported resolutions - and this isn't available when kodi boots.
You either need to store this information to a file (as described in my link) or slow down booting enough that the TV is ready.
Nope, I want to try that tonight! However this is a "take around pi", why I preferred the boot delay option.
Hello,

I installed this LibreELEC Testbuild and Netflix addon on my raspberry pi 2B.

I have optic fiber installed and the rpi is wired directly on the box.

I can't play anything at a better resolution than 480p, the image is slow if I try to do it (the sound is fine).

I tried to augment the gpu_memory to 512 without any effect (the change had been recognized).
I also tried to augment the memorysize cache from 20MB to 60MB, without any effect (I can't verify if it worked) in the
/storage/.kodi/userdata/advancedsettings.xml file.

Does anyone have an idea ?

Thanks !

480p is the maximum an RPi2 will do. You need an RPi3B+ for smooth 720p playback.

so long,

Hias
Oh ok.

Thanks for that quick answer !

Any one else having issues with the vfs.rar asddons ? seem to have stopped working for me, some items get scanned into the library but not all and nothing will play from from the library but it will in files mode ?
