v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0)

No, it's not wireless, wired ethernet.

So I disabled the VU+ addon and then tested with both the libreelec Alpha and the latest 902 build. I used a show from Amazon as the test case, same episode each time. I ran it for two minutes both times and then brought up the OSD after two mins which resolved the video stuttering.

LibreElec Alpha: http://ix.io/1lVs

Milhouse Build 902: http://ix.io/1lVx

Home this helps shed some light on the issue.

Any further ideas @fritsch
 No.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.
(2018-09-08, 00:36)Milhouse Wrote: @mglae Yes I have seen other crashes, not very often, but GUIFontManager and CNfsConnection crashes are by far the most common (for me, at least).

I'm testing with these scripts which you can install in the LibreELEC client:

wget -q http://ix.io/1mcF -O /storage/segfault
wget -q http://ix.io/1mcE -O /storage/debug.sh
chmod +x /storage/segfault /storage/debug.sh
Thanks.

Quote:Then run "/storage/segfault #" to test (where # is the number of restarts to be tested). If Kodi crashes it should display the relevant backtrace. With a regular build of Kodi I can usually trigger a crash within 3 restarts, quite often at the first attempt. With a build that has PR14356 reverted I can restart 30 times without a crash.
Please increase TimeoutStopSec of kodi.service during testing. PR14356 fixes a 5 sec delay when stopping LE settings addon. Systemd kills kodi 5 sec after the initial TERM and a crash dump is never created.

In my setup I do not get any crash dump with default timeout.

It's maybe a good idea to increase TimeoutStopSec for kodi.service in general in your test builds to get attention of such issues.
Hello, sorry for my English, I am using a translator I just installed Libreelec and the addon youtube, when I want to play a video it does not play it, it does it when I do a first search and then I play it back. Now if it works if I play any other yoputube video, like those that are live, popular, etc.

 log:
http://ix.io/1mfi
@Milhouse  I've added SIGKILL detection to the segfault script.

Add-on problem ("Signature function" issue): fixed here.

Many thanks - I'm currently waiting for some new builds to finish, then will test increasing the timeout, and hopefully include any changes in tonight's release.

Edit: Well, the change itself is fairly trivial so I'll include it anyway, and obviously only in these test builds - we'll need to think about what to do for official releases (if indeed there's anything to do, as ideally Kodi shouldn't crash etc.)

For release there is no change needed: let Kodi have the chance to exit successfully, but don't delay power off or reboot too much.

Looks like the last release used the wrong build code - I started it a few seconds before midnight and by the time the build code is updated the date had rolled over. Sigh.

Hello @Milhouse I have now tried with your attempt to find a solution. Unfortunately, it is still the case that I have sound dropouts. I do not know what to do anymore. Thank you anyway that you have tried to help me. Thank you

@Milhouse regarding Generic crash on exit if debug logging is enabled.

It looks like that after PR:13452 [xbmc][fix] Use fmt for logging as well (part of #0210) using logging from the exit handlers crashes kodi. IMO this was a bad idea before but fortunately worked.

A work around is to disable logging before exiting kodi: http://ix.io/1mpx. Set KODI_LOG_EXIT_CRASH to get the crash again.

This is no fix, the responsible calls have to be removed or logging must be working until the very end.

It is unlikely that this changes the RPI NFS crash issue.
@mglae the NFS crash is on Generic - on RPi, I get a different crash! I guess a trac ticket might be worth creating, but there are multiple reasons for a crash - when one is avoided (for example by disabling debug logging, or perhaps not using NFS) it only reveals another. It is odd that the Python changes were implicated in my testing, not really sure how to explain that.
