When i want to play a "in progress Tv show" from the start page I'm getting the error "Playback failed/can't find a next item to play[/code]".
If i navigate trough the point "TV shows" the file plays.

Can you enable debug log (wiki) and upload your log again? It's a little difficuly to say what the issue is.

How did you populate your library, did you import it from a backup, or scan it from scratch? Which scraper did you use (The TVDB, Local Information only, or some other scraper?)

When you install LE 8.0.1, do you have this issue?

Thank you very much for your reply.

Here is the new debug log for the path: "In progress" --> "2 Broke Girls": https://pastebin.com/X7wGYCik --> not working
And to compare, the debug log for the path: "TV Shows" --> "2 Broke Girls" https://pastebin.com/vyuQ7gQZ --> is working

- the library is scanned from the stratch
- Scraper: The TVDB (no local information are provided)
- On LE 8.0.1 I do not have this issue

Thank you in advance

Hello,

I have the same problem. If I just press enter on an item I also get ""Playback failed/can't find a next item to play". If I use the context menu and select play, it works. Any ideas?

It's obviously not a widespread problem, which suggest something specific to your setup (addons? skin?) If you can identify the build when this problem started that might help. Otherwise it will need insight from a Kodi developer with experience in this area. If nothing materialises, you should open a ticket on trac.kodi.tv.

Ok. Here's What I found it appears that the issue with the skipping audio began with #0220, (4.10.0 kernel?), #0219 works perfectly.

Here is the log: http://sprunge.us/VNPN. Nothing stands out to me, but what do I know Smile

Thanks for taking a look.

Interesting. OK, can you try the #0213x build as that is based on 4.10-rc8 - if it is a 4.10.0 kernel issue then it should be present in the rc8 kernel too (unless there is a change between rc8 and final, which is possible but somewhat unlikely).

If it is present in rc8, then testing the earlier 4.10-rc candidates could help narrow it down:

4.10-rc7: 2518444 (post)
4.10-rc6: 2512663 (post)
4.10-rc5: 2508477 (post)
4.10-rc3: 2497349 (post) (there was no rc4)

Also, can you post a debug log (wiki) (enabled from boot) and "journalctl -a" from a current build (ie. #0510) once the skipping has occurred?

I've tested a bunch of builds. The error first occurs on the #0403-build. The #0402-build runs fine.
Here is my debug-log for the #0403-build (like explainend on page 1): http://sprunge.us/TTZK

@kafisc thanks, would be great if @Soulplayer could confirm that. Thing is, there's nothing immediately obvious in #0403 but tomorrow I can try creating some test builds with various #0403 commits reverted (not enough time today).

I'm looking forward to test the test builds.

I've uploaded several builds, one for each change relative to #0402.

Just to be thorough I've included builds with changes that should in theory have no effect whatsoever.

Can you test them in turn and identify which is the first one with the playback issue?

#0512b is the baseline build, and should be equivalent to #0402 (at least in terms of Kodi functionality) so shouldn't have any issue:

#0512b: baseline

Of the 9 pull requests that merged in #0403, I have uploaded 7 builds - at least one of them should have the playback issue:

#0512c: +PR11649 Add browse for subtitle action
#0512d: +PR11893 [windows] use wmic qfe instead of powershell to check if hotfix is installed
#0512e: +PR11925 Copyright header update for games, joysticks and RetroPlayer
#0512f: +PR11926 [Clean up] Removing white space, unused variables and methods
#0512g: +PR11901 [droid] Add leanback recommendation and search
#0512h: +PR11928 Fix syntax for links (PR:11928, 1 commit, 1 file changed)
#0512i: +PR9098 [depends] Bump samba-gplv3 to version 4.0.26

The following two PRs were already present in #0402/#0512b so shouldn't be the cause (and don't require a test build):

PR11923 [rbpi] Make sure we strip binaries in Release build (
PR11921 estuary fix watched status for videos
