I'm afraid so. Cherry-picking video-related commits is not going to happen, so if master is broken it stays broken until it is fixed.

Milhouse - does this version (18) has the Kaby Lake (Intel 7th Gen CPU with HDMI 2.0) DTS-HD/Dolby True-HD Support or still the same issue as Kodi 17.1 ?

Not entirely sure, to be honest - I know there are a number of problems (seemingly firmware) with Intel audio so my suspicion is that it might not yet be working.

This issue has zero (0) to do with kodi.
First decide what functions / features you expect from a system. Then decide for the hardware. Don't waste your money on crap.

Microsoft has nothing to do with the linux firmware and driver. It's and Intel and Linux kernel issue.

EDIT: And Microsoft did not fix the driver, Intel did.
