Just updated from LE8.2.4 to #319 on my Asrock J4205-ITX connected via HDMI.

For me the kodi gui is really slow. From 7 fps till 25fps when doing nothing in kodi. I also had that problem with build #314

In the log i see no indication for the slow fps. Any ideas?

You want us to burn GPU cycles when "doing nothing"? This is called Dirty Regions, disable them to waste power and produce heat via: https://kodi.wiki/view/HOW-TO:Modify_dirty_regions

Just wanted to say "Thank You" (again) for your outstanding work you actually do and (at least for me) did for the last two years.

I changed my hardware from x86 to an AMLogic box and I'm really happy with it (so far).

It was always a pleasure using your builds  - even when things did not work as expected.
You always had a helping hand and useful hints for us, the users of your builds.

Keep up the great work and stay the nice and motivated person you are.

I (and I bet most of the other users as well) always appreciated that!

Build Highlights:

1. VAAPI support (HEVC, 10-bit etc.) for recent AMD GPUs
   

 

would be nice if you give this one a big round of testing, basically we now use a more modern code path for VAAPI on drivers that support it, which enables us for the first time to decode with VAAPI on mesa/radeon.
So for AMD, this means that you can now use VAAPI instead of VDPAU and it should support most of the things VDPAU did plus HEVC10 hardware decoding if your hardware is capable (since UVD 6, so about 3rd gen GCN). Generally speaking, you should no longer use VDPAU on AMD hardware.

It also affects intel GPUs, except there everything should work as before. NVIDIA is not affected since the binary drivers do not support VAAPI.

 No and not planned.

I'll try to give some more details:

• NVIDIA+Linux+HEVC10 hwdecoding is unsupported and not planned in Kodi (so by extension also in LibreELEC). VDPAU is dead and we have no one interested to work on CUVID - but we welcome contributions.
  
• Intel/AMD+Linux+HEVC10(+HDR) hwdecoding is supported for output to 8-bit displays
  
• HDR metadata passthrough to the display and also output to 10-bit displays is mostly not supported by Linux, so nothing we can do for the moment
