In terms of the rendering chain, what has been implemented for necessary requirements for HDR. Kodi (18 Yes) to ffmpeg (yes? no?) to mesa drivers (yes? no?) and kernel (no).

Thanks that's good to know about AMlogic. So they dont actually do true HDR, isn't that a bit misleading on all the threads that recommend it? Is there a source I can read more about AMLogic converting 8bit-to-10bit conversion.

My intel setup is currently perfect except HDR and auto switching, when going from 1080p in UI to 2160p Video back to 1080p in UI, the video signal is lost and have to unplug HDMI in and out to get picture back. Hopefully that is fixed in LE9.

Your first question: Not my part of the ship, really. It's been mentioned several times on this forum that Linux doesn't support HDR. I'm not sure when it will. It also depends on the hardware, as pre-Apollo Lake hardware isn't capable of HDR, and there continue to be question marks about Apollo Lake and even later hardware.

I suspect most of the threads punting AMLogic as supporting HDR aren't aware of how AMLogic currently does it (and have done it badly). Sure, it looks better (or at least different) than SDR, but it's not true HDR. You'll need to find an AMLogic developer that is knee deep in the AMLogic kernel, I'd suggest looking at what OSMC are doing or asking on their forum as they're trying to do it right but it's a work-in-progress (@Sam.Nazarko if you want to chip in here, feel free!)

Your Intel bug: I don't know if it will be fixed in LE9, you might need a mainline kernel which isn't currently targeted for use in LE9.
Thanks for response, great to see devs take time out to answer questions they prob get heaps.

Since HDR is not likely to be supported soon but you can still watch HEVC HDR videos on post-Apollo lake hardware but the colors are all washed out, is there a fix or workaround to get better colors? Is that something that will come in LE9?
Since build #0502 i'm facing some problems with SkyGo Addon.
Pressing "exit" fast repeatedly to leave submenus causes a system freeze ---> http://ix.io/19yn
Maybe PR 13832 is related to this behavior?

Seems like RTSP streams aren't working anymore? I have my security camera feeds saved as .strm files with the RTSP link inside. The exact same path plays fine in vlc. (rtsp://username:@ip:port)

If something "isn't working any more" then identifying the first build when the something stopped working is often helpful.
Texture Cache Maintenance Utility: Preload your texture cache for optimal UI performance. Remotely manage media libraries. Purge unused artwork to free up space. Find missing media. Configurable QA check to highlight metadata issues. Aid in diagnosis of library and cache related problems.

Almost certainly. Unfortunately it may take a while for all the busy dialog related issues to be worked out.

Of course and I normally would, but I haven't tried using the camera streams for quite some time.

OK, I got it sorted out. I found this thread which lead me to find that ffmpeg won't pass a username only with a blank password
@millhouse latest versions still have issue for me where it freezes and have to restart kodi
want another log?

Freezing or crashing? Your last log seemed to be a Python related crash, but if you're now suffering from freezing there's a good chance that might be due to the busy dialog changes introduced in #0502 - a debug enabled log might give a clue.

Its always been freezing, kodi freezes and have to restart.
Will upload debug log next time it happens.
Someone else with async A/V on Dolby Digital 7.1 Plus with Passthrough enabled? The problem exists only since the latest builds, I don't know exactly which build. I'm currently on #0504

Netflix addon version 0.13.4 includes the above mentioned commit(s) now, thx @Milhouse
