v18 LibreELEC Testbuilds for x86_64 (Kodi 18.0)
@MattDevo thanks for that, but not sure why this would only start with #0217 as claimed?

And for the Kaby Lake issue, is there anything we/I can do to work around this in the image or is it a kernel issue (which I suspect it is) and hopefully this will be fixed in 5.0 or 5.1...?

lack of HDMI output on the KBL Chromeboxes started with your 9.0 test builds way back (unsure which kernel version, or which build added the snd_soc_skl driver), not a new thing. I think the issue is that the codec driver (rt5663) which works in conjunction with the snd_soc_skl driver fails to load, so no outputs get enumerated. Blacklisting snd_soc_skl allows the snd_hda_intel driver to be used instead, which successfully enumerates the HDMI outputs. I've not had a chance to look into it much, and since the blacklisting works w/o issue, I didn't have much impetus to do so

well hello there, troubleshooting section of Kodi Chromebox wiki page...
Quote:No HDMI Audio on 2018/Kabylake Chromeboxes:
  • the snd_soc_skl audio driver is breaking things, so we need to blacklist it. Open up the 'configfiles' network share on your Chromebox, then the modprobe.d folder. If it doesn't already exist, create a new text file blacklist.conf and add the line 'blacklist snd_soc_skl' to it. Save and reboot the Chromebox.
Hmm, interesting, was checking Kodi.tv and LibreELEC.tv only for this issue, and found nothing. Guess not enough people are running on CN65 yet!
It works just fine with LibreELEC 9.0.0/Kodi18, but seems to break in all releases I tried after that.
When was this issue introduced, i.e. when was "snd_soc_skl audio driver" added/changed?

Thanks Matt, will try the blacklist tonight when I get home!

Update: Sorry, see you state above that you do not know when introduced.

@Milhouse, I do not know if it started with #217, that was just the first nightly that I tried from your builds after having upgraded to LibreELEC 9, and started experiencing the screen calibration issue, and tried to fix it by using your builds.

Yep, hope this gets fixed soon!

Update 2:
Yep, blacklisting worked! Running #227 now with working HDMI ALSA Audio!

Thanks!

@Milhouse Do you have any link that points to the latest generic build? I mean that is always pointing to the latest? So we could use a simple bash command to update to the latest version?

I tried using a custom channel in the libreelec config a while back, but that only seems to go out and check your site for new versions on reboot. Not on any timer or manually triggered check.
Tested the latest build and it doesn't start up.

OK, there will now be three files pointing to the latest releases:

Latest-RPi.tar
Latest-RPi2.tar
Latest-Generic.tar

This is fixed now (for about the last 2 weeks) - it should load the list when the "Available versions" button is clicked (ie manually triggered).

I just spot checked a handful of @Milhouse 's nightly builds going all the way back to 2018/12/01, and all have snd_soc_skl included, whereas none of the official LE builds (going back to 8.90.003) do. So must be a kernel config difference there.
Is it just me or is the download speed a bit slow lately? Maybe 2 or 3 weeks.

I have a 150mbps line so I'm used to see something like 18000kb/s (sometimes even 20000kb/s) but it tops out at about 4600kb/s lately.

Speedtest says that my line is fine.

Well, I just this minute downloaded build #301 and it pegged my Spectrum 100 Mb/s line at 115 Mb/s (slightly over-provisioned, it seems).

I see snd-soc-skl.ko in 8.90.003:

extract/SYS/usr/lib/kernel-overlays/base/lib/modules/4.17.6/kernel/sound/soc/intel/skylake/snd-soc-skl.ko

I also went back through my own builds and it's present in all of them, as far back as #0210 (2018) which is the older version I have available:

It's not in 8.2.5, so would have been introduced somewhere between 4.11.12 (8.2.5) and 4.14.18 (#0210, as 8.90.003 is based on 4.17.6).
