We reported the bugs with hdcp 2.2 and hdcp 1.4 devices in the beta and it's been an issue for well over a year. It's way worse now though as you can't change resolution or color space. I can only use the shield with a full hdcp 2.2 chain.

The color space defaulting to rgb is fixed now though.

There are also issues with the remote going in a sort of sleep mode, requiring a number of button presses to wake up and respond. This was also reported during beta.

Its a techonoly problem not a BUG from the Shield.

The PS4 pro also has this problem along with other players on the Market....Blame HDCP 2.2

HDCP was developed by Intel to secure the transmission of high-definition digital content as it travels across cables from Blu-ray players, satellite receivers, cable boxes, AV receivers, and other home-entertainment components to a display. The aim is to prevent someone from plugging a Blu-ray player into a digital recorder to make a copy of a movie.

While DRM (digital rights management) encrypts the content itself, HCDP secures the cable between the source and the “sink”—the TV, monitor, or the video projector that display the content. The source exchanges encryption keys with the sink in a handshake, and if the keys aren’t in agreement, you don’t get a picture.

While that’s bad news for bad guys, it’s a potential headache for the rest of us, too. HDCP 2.2 is not backward compatible with the previous versions of HDCP that are currently used by most of the HD devices in all our homes. Thanks to its ignominious track record of exploitations, the protocol required a clean refresh, and since it's implemented at the hardware level, manufacturers can't simply release new firmware to bring old gear up to speed.

Heres a very basic and simple explanation why the refresh rates or resolution in some systems will not work properlly in the Nvidia Shield when theres a Hdmi 2.0 device between the Display Hdmi 1.4 and the Shield hdmi 2.0

The source comunicates with Display and receive the Supports video resolutions by the display.



If theres a Receiver HDMI 2.0 in between, it can "confuse" the Shield when the HDCP 2.2 dont match the other HDMI in the chain, leading to audio or the refresh rates issues in some apps like Netflix, Kodi, SPMC etc.



Theres not immediate solution, some brand of receiver manufactures might work better than others...
