I've been using one of these kind a long time. Only limitation you have on optical / toslink is that you'll only get DTS/AC3 5.1 sound, no DTS HD, Dolby Atmos or all those newer formats.
Hi and thanks a lot for the confirmation. I've just sent the Shield back to Amazon but now that I know it works with that sound extractor I will order one again.
