For those wanting a more reliable cheap Air Mouse remote, there is a lot of love over on Reddit for this....

I believe it has it’s own RF receiver dongle. These types of setups are usually ultra reliable.

Luckily my Fire TV remote works with the Shield; I just wish they'd work with the Apple TV 4K though as that remote is annoying as hell.  

I just wished the Shield would have a remote with volume buttons. Can't stand the current volume slider operation....
If somebody at Nvidia were ever to read this, it would no doubt be with a huge sigh and thoughts of something like "Volume buttons on a remote control are just so 20th Century".....

You can turn off the volume slider in the settings.
