Putting this in the Shield thread as I think it is a Shield problem rather than Kodi itself,
I have some Blu-ray rips which I have done from my own collection using makeMKV. They work well with the exception of those using the VC-1 video code. I am running 8.0.2.
With Kodi 17.6, all the Blu-ray mkv worked normally in that I could start play, stop and resume without any problems.
I then upgraded Kodi to 18.8 and have noticed problems only with the VC-1 Blu-ray mkv. I can start/start from beginning these videos and they work normally. However if I stop and then choose resume, all I get is a spinning ball and nothing plays. I then have to stop and restart from beginning and it works.
I have tried Kodi 18.8 via old android s905x, OSX and also Windows and the VC-1 Blu-ray resume normally so I think it is more a Shield TV problem. I also noticed there were previous posts commenting on problems with VC-1 encoded media and the fourth hot fix 8.0.2+ mentioned a decoding issue with vc-1 encoded media content.
Any advice otherwise I may need to transcode these videos.
